New Coppa Italia format: LIVE reactions

The Coppa Italia format will change from next season and the fans react. ‘The romance of the cup is dead’.

The tournament had been open to Serie C and even Serie D teams from the earliest stages, but the Lega opted to adjust to make the games more ‘appetising’ for TV rights and viewers.

Fans have reacted to the news that only the 20 Serie A and 20 Serie B clubs will participate, starting from next season.

Acerbi: 'Italy aim to win Euro 2020'

Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi said Italy ‘aim to win’ Euro 2020 this summer. ‘We have a lot of enthusiasm and will give everything’.

The 33-year-old, capped 13 times by the Azzurri, is expected to be in CT Roberto Mancini’s squad for the European Championship and the Aquile veteran expects Italy to go far.

“We aim to go all the way, because we are strong,” Acerbi told Sky Sport Italia. “Then there’s the group that makes the difference.

Serie A Week 35 referees

The AIA has announced the referees for Serie A Week 35, with Paolo Valeri in charge of Juventus vs. Milan on Sunday.

The two games between Spezia-Napoli and Udinese-Bologna kick off the 35th round of fixtures and the round concludes with the big game between the Old Lady and the Rossoneri.

Giovanni Ayroldi will be at the whistle when champions Inter host Claudio Ranieri’s Sampdoria on Saturday, whilst Fabio Maresca will oversee Lazio’s trip to Fiorentina.

Di Canio: 'Mourinho worst of the worst'

Paolo Di Canio has gone viral for a vicious rant against Jose Mourinho’s move to Roma. ‘He’s the worst of the worst. Finished in every conceivable way and he plays anti-football.’

The recording was seemingly a phone message he left for a friend of his who is a Giallorossi supporter, but it was released onto YouTube and spread rapidly.

Di Canio is a former Lazio player and current Sky Sport Italia pundit who is known for not holding back on criticism.

Report: Lazio offer Mata two-year deal

Lazio have reportedly targeted a free transfer for Manchester United attacking midfielder Juan Mata this summer.

La Repubblica reports sporting director Igli Tare wants to give coach Simone Inzaghi a creative midfielder to increase the value of the squad.

The report claims the Aquile have contacted the Spanish playmaker and offered him a two-year contract at the Olimpico, with an option of a further season.

Report: Inter, Fiorentina and Lazio target Maksimovic

Inter, Lazio and Fiorentina have reportedly targeted a free transfer for Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic.

The Serbian defender has played 17 times in Serie A this term and his contract with the Partenopei expires on June 30.

The 29-year-old centre-back can discuss with other teams and move on a free transfer this summer, triggering the interest of Napoli’s rivals in the Italian top flight.

Lazzari dreams of Italy call-up

Lazio winger Manuel Lazzari hopes to receive an Italy call-up and play the Euros with the Azzurri.

The former Spal man spoke to DAZN after Lazio’s 4-3 win over Genoa.

“We played really well in the first half and we could have scored more goals. We knew we were facing a strong team who want to gain survival,” the 27-year-old said.

“They never gave up, but we deserved to win.
