Marash Kumbulla assures he ‘did not hesitate’ when Roma made an approach to Hellas Verona. ‘It’s a step up in my career.’

The centre-back had also been linked with other clubs, including Napoli and Lazio, but opted for the Giallorossi.

“When I heard of their interest, it was exciting and I did not hesitate, because of the club, the city and fans. It was an easy decision to make,” said the Albania international in his press conference.

Caicedo: 'Lazio not looking for excuses'

Forward Felipe Caicedo said Lazio ‘can’t look for excuses’ after the 4-1 defeat to Atalanta and vowed to be ‘ready’ for Inter this weekend.

Caicedo scored the Biancocelesti goal in the loss to top four rivals Atalanta on Wednesday and the Ecuador international said ‘a few situations went against’ the Aquile.

However, the 32-year-old didn’t want to look for any excuses and claimed Lazio ‘need to be more clinical’ going forward.

Highlights: Lazio 1-4 Atalanta

The meetings between Lazio and Atalanta are always entertaining and this was no different, as Papu Gomez scored twice in a 4-1 away win.

There were six goals in this fixture last season, La Dea going 3-0 up at half-time only to be caught 3-3 in the final minutes.

Robin Gosens and Hans Hateboer assisted each other before Gomez pounced on a poor clearance to again put the Bergamo boys three in front at the Olimpico.

Lazio and Atalanta, the best of enemies

If these sides were the great entertainers of Serie A last season, then Atalanta showed Giancarlo Rinaldi they’ve still got the upper hand over Lazio.

This town ain’t big enough for the both of us, they used to say in the Wild West. And in the Serie A saloon, it would appear, there is a similar simmering animosity between two contenders to be the most attacking and entertaining side in the division. Their latest showdown saw Atalanta send Lazio scampering off into the sunset in some style.

Inzaghi: 'Not a fair reflection of Lazio'

Simone Inzaghi maintains the 4-1 result was ‘not a fair reflection’ of Lazio’s performance against Atalanta. ‘I am sure we’ll have a good season.’

Papu Gomez scored twice, with Hans Hateboer and Robin Gosens also on target, while Felipe Caicedo got a mere consolation for the Aquile at the Stadio Olimpico.

“The lads played their game, we just failed to step up in the decisive moments of the match,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

Gasperini: 'Atalanta have grown so much'

Gian Piero Gasperini gives an important update on Josip Ilicic, defines the greatness of Papu Gomez and postpones Scudetto talk after Atalanta beat Lazio.

La Dea have started the season in spectacular form, beating Torino 4-2 and Lazio 4-1, both away from home.

“We created plenty of chances today and perhaps could’ve scored more after the break,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.
