Inzaghi: 'Nice idea for Balotelli'

Simone Inzaghi said Lazio will likely start Luis Nani and Felipe Caicedo, while Mario Balotelli has “found his ideal environment at Nice.”

It kicks off at the Allianz Riviera on Thursday at 18.00 UK time (17.00 GMT).

These two sides are dominating Group K so far with a perfect record, leaving Zulte Waregem and Vitesse on zero.

“It will be difficult tomorrow, as Nice are a very good side who deserved to be in the Champions League preliminary round and have players of great quality,” said Inzaghi in his Press conference.

‘Lazio loanee better than Higuain!’

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has taken a swipe at Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain. “My loanee did better than him!”

Joseph Minala – once accused of being 41 years old, when he was in fact only 17 – scored the winner in Salernitana’s 3-2 victory over Campanian rivals Avellino last weekend.

That prompted Lotito to goad Higuain after he missed a similar chance during Lazio’s 2-1 win at Juve.

“Minala did better than Higuain,” he told La Citta.

Serie A Team of Week 8

As Napoli remain top of the table, Dave Taylor selects his best XI from Week 8’s top action over a long weekend.

Tomas Strakosha [Lazio]

The Lazio ‘keeper had to be on his toes from the start, first finger tipping a Khedira thunderbolt to safety then suffocating two Gonzalo Higuain efforts. However, it was in the last moment that he kept his very best for when saving Paolo Dybala’s penalty. Outstanding.

Kalidou Koulibaly [Napoli]

Rivere: ‘Ventura should call Balotelli’

Nice President Jean-Pierre Rivère believes Italy CT Giampiero Ventura can call Mario Balotelli, insisting “I’ve never seen” bad behaviour from him.

The striker hasn’t been capped by his country since the 2014 World Cup, but his fine form in France has led to calls for a recall.

‘Europa League difficult for Lazio’

Simone Inzaghi admits “it will be more difficult for us this year” as Lazio are also competing in the Europa League.

The Biancocelesti have won both of their opening games in the competition so far, and face a double-header with Nice next, the first game of which is on Thursday.

“It’s a very draining competition,” Inzaghi said in an interview with UEFA’s official website.

“It will be more difficult for us this year, because last season we only had one game a week and we could prepare for it in the best way.
