Lippi: 'Scudetto race is open'

Marcello Lippi urges Inter and Lazio to believe in the Scudetto, because “Juventus are only expressing 60 per cent of their potential.”

The gap at the top of the table has been sliced to three points, as although both the chasers were held to draws, the leaders were beaten 2-1 by Napoli.

“Juve didn’t have the right psychological approach at the Stadio San Paolo, perhaps because they saw that Inter and Lazio had already drawn their games,” Lippi told Radio GR Parlamento.

The Derby della Capitale ended in a draw, so Giancarlo Rinaldi believes both Roma and Lazio can take positives from the performance as well as a point each.

The highways and byways of Italian football are littered with the form books which pundits reckon we are best to throw out of the window ahead of every derby. However, we students of Calcio history know exactly which one the big four cross-city clashes in Serie A produces the highest percentage of draws. In Rome - more than Turin, Genoa or Milan - we have learned down the years that our post-match analysis will often be in assessing who the moral victors were when the honours on the field of play have ended up even.

Sarri: 'Juventus bland and passive'

Maurizio Sarri felt let down by the “passive and extremely bland” Juventus attitude, but confessed if he had to lose to anyone, he’s “glad it was Napoli.”

The Bianconeri had lost only two competitive matches under Sarri, both against Lazio in Serie A and the Italian Supercup, so defeat against a side coming off three consecutive league defeats was unexpected.

It was also Sarri’s first time facing Napoli since leaving the club, as during the 4-3 result in Turin on August 31, he was at home suffering from pneumonia.

Gattuso: 'Keep going, Napoli'

Gennaro Gattuso didn’t get ahead of himself after the victory over Juventus. “We have to keep going like this, think of Napoli 24 hours a day.”

The coach had lost three of his first four Serie A games at the helm, but he managed to successfully neutralise leaders Juve to barely a single shot on target.

Piotr Zielinski and Lorenzo Insigne got the goals, with Cristiano Ronaldo setting up a tense finale, but they held on for their first league home win since October.

Santon: Roma deserved victory'

Roma right-back Davide Santon says there is regret at not winning the Rome derby, “the game was dominated by Roma.”

The second Derby della Capitale of the season ended in another draw, the first time both derbies have finished in a stalemate since the 2002-03 season.

Santon believes that the Giallorossi should’ve won the game.

“I think the game was dominated by Roma, we had prepared for the match well,” Santon told Sky Sport Italia.

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi admits Roma were the better side in the Rome derby. “It’s fair to say that they were better than us.”

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, but the Giallorossi had the better of the game, hitting the post through Lorenzo Pellegrini.

“Roma were better than us, it’s fair to say it,” said Inzaghi in his post-game press conference.

Roma boss Paulo Fonseca believes his side were unfortunate not to win the Rome derby. “I think the lads deserved more than the result they got today.”
