Gravina: 'Italy-Holland in Bergamo will be important'

Italy will host the Netherlands in Bergamo on October 14 and the FIGC President Gabriele Gravina believes it represents ‘a further step towards normality’.

Bergamo has been one of the hardest hit cities in Italy during the coronavirus pandemic but Gravina revealed the Gewiss Stadium could be open for more than 1,000 fans when Holland arrive next month.

“It will be an important game, a further step towards normality,” Gravina told Sky Sport Italia. “It’s a duty on the part of the world of football to return to Bergamo.

Gravina wants open doors in Serie B and C

FIGC President Gabriele Gravina admits he was ‘perplexed’ by the fact that only Serie A was allowed to reopen stadiums.

The new decree allows 1,000 spectators in the stadiums of outdoor sports, but so far only Serie A has been given the go ahead in football.

Gravina expects Serie B and Serie C to get ‘the same treatment’ before the League kicks off next week.

Raiola: 'Balotelli will stay in Europe'

Agent Mino Raiola has claimed ‘there’s always a solution’ for Mario Balotelli and confirmed the former Italy international will remain in Europe.

Raiola met with Inter to discuss the return of Andrea PInamonti from Genoa today and spoke to Tuttomercatoweb after the negotiations.

“For the agreement between the clubs, you must talk to them,” Raiola said regarding said about Pinamonti’s return to San Siro. “For the lad, we are working.”

Bojinov leaves Pescara

Valeri Bojinov leaves Pescara and rejoins Levski Sofia for the third time in his career.

The Bulgarian club announced the return through their official channels and the 34-year-old leaves the Serie B side after only seven months.

The centre-forward first joined Levski Sofia in January 2014, but returned to Italy in September the same year, before he moved back to Sofia in February 2019.

Bojinov, who joined Lecce in July 1998, has played at Fiorentina, Juventus, Parma, Hellas Verona, Vicenza and Ternana in Italy.

Spezia must play home games in Cesena

Spezia will have to play at least their first few Serie A home games in Cesena, because the Stadio Picco requires restructuring work.

This will be their first ever top flight campaign after winning the Serie B promotion play-offs.

The Lega Serie A have announced that the Stadio Alberto Picco does not meet regulations, so needs to undergo work before it can host league games.

Instead, Spezia will be hosted by the Stadio Dino Manuzzi in Cesena.

Melegoni set for Genoa

Genoa have reportedly won the chase for Atalanta midfielder Filippo Melegoni, who will arrive on a two-year loan with an obligation to buy.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports the Rossoblu beat Parma in the battle for the 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan with Pescara in Serie B.

The centre-midfielder should arrive in Genoa tonight and carry out the usual medical visit tomorrow, before signing a deal with the Grifoni.

Soriano: 'From next week we get serious'

Bologna forward Roberto Soriano admitted the ‘legs are a bit heavy’ after a goalless draw against Virtus Entella on Saturday.

Lazio winger Manuel Lazzari vowed to be ‘in top shape’ for the new season but admitted the Aquile ‘must be more clinical’ after a 1-0 win against Frosinone.

Joaquin Correa scored the only goals when the Biancocelesti secured a win in the friendly against Frosinone on Saturday, and Lazzari felt his team could have done more.

Milan triumphed in final test against Brescia

Franck Kessie, Lorenzo Colombo and Samu Castillejo scored the goals when Milan convinced with a 3-1 win against Brescia in their last friendly before the Europa League match against Shamrock Rovers.

Stefano Pioli’s men faced Luigi Delnieri’s Brescia at Milanello, when Sandro Tonali came off the bench and played the last 17 minutes against his former club.

The Rossoneri have won their four friendlies against Novara, Monza, Vicenza and now Brescia, before the first official match of the new season on Thursday.

Serie B: Lecce sign Henderson

Lecce have officially announced the permanent signing of Scottish midfielder Liam Henderson from Hellas Verona.

The midfielder has joined the Giallorossi on a deal until June 2024, having recently returned to Verona from a loan stint at Empoli in the second tier.

“US Lecce announce the permanent transfer of the footballer Liam Henderson from Hellas Verona,” the club wrote in a statement.

“The player, who has already undergone the medical examinations, has signed a four-year contract.”
