Serie B: Lecce sign Henderson

Lecce have officially announced the permanent signing of Scottish midfielder Liam Henderson from Hellas Verona.

The midfielder has joined the Giallorossi on a deal until June 2024, having recently returned to Verona from a loan stint at Empoli in the second tier.

“US Lecce announce the permanent transfer of the footballer Liam Henderson from Hellas Verona,” the club wrote in a statement.

“The player, who has already undergone the medical examinations, has signed a four-year contract.”

Serie B: Full 2020-21 fixtures

The 2020-21 Serie B season begins on the weekend of September 26 with fixtures including Lecce-Pordenone, Frosinone-Empoli and Monza-SPAL.

There are already several showdowns between potential promotion candidates in the opening round, above all Frosinone-Empoli.

The tournament is due to run until May 7, with several midweek rounds.

There is no Christmas break and games will also be played on Easter Monday.

Riccardi and Valdifiori to Pescara

Roma have sent Alessio Riccardi to Pescara on loan with option to buy and a counter-option, where he’ll be teammates with Mirko Valdifiori.

The 19-year-old midfielder is a product of the Giallorossi youth academy and still waiting for his Serie A debut.

He’ll be in Serie B for this season with Pescara, where he has moved on loan with option to buy.

Roma also retain a counter-option to bring Riccardi back to the Capital.

Molinaro continues with Venezia

Former Juventus and VfB Stuttgart defender Cristian Molinaro has signed a new contract at the age of 37 with Serie B side Venezia.

The centre-back had already played for Venezia last season, managing 12 appearances after joining as a free agent in January, and had been expected to retire this summer.

Instead, he has signed a new contract to June 2021, with an option to extend to June 2022.

Molinaro is most famous for his time at Juventus, but also played for Stuttgart, Parma, Torino, Frosinone, Siena and Salernitana.

Report: Fares formalities away from Lazio

Lazio are reportedly only formalities away from announcing a €9m deal with SPAL for Mohamed Fares.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Lazio reached an agreement at €8m plus €1m in bonuses for the midfielder, who seems set to follow Manuel Lazzari from Ferrara to the Italian capital.

Di Marzio reports the two clubs agreed on Friday and are exchanging the required documents to finalise the transfer.

Chievo COVID cases cancel friendly

Today’s friendly between Serie B side Chievo and Padova has been called off after three Flying Donkeys players tested positive for COVID-19.

The news was announced just hours before the game was due to kick off at the Stadio Euganeo.

Tests showed that three Chievo players had contracted the coronavirus and are currently asymptomatic.

They have been quarantined, while the rest of the squad is having another round of tests.

Official: Brescia appoint Delneri

Brescia have formally appointed Gigi Delneri as their new coach, having originally been drafted in as a director of sport.

The veteran tactician was meant to take on a new role for him as a director overseeing the youth academy, senior team and scouting network.

However, the negotiations advanced down a different path and he was today announced as their new coach.

It is believed he will still be given wider powers than a coach usually has at Brescia, where President Massimo Cellino is known to take a very hands-on approach to transfer strategy.

COVID-19: Monza President Berlusconi hospitalised

Monza patron Silvio Berlusconi, who tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, spent a night in hospital for thorough checks. Forza Italia senator Licia Ronzulli: ‘He’s fine’.

The former Milan chief, his children Luigi and Barbara and his girlfriend Marta Fascina tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week.

The 84-year-old was rushed to hospital last night with symptoms that required thorough checks.

Report: Tonali medical at the start of next week

Sandro Tonali’s medical at Milan will reportedly take place at the beginning of next week.

The Brescia midfielder, who recently tested positive for coronavirus, seems set for a move to Milan, as MilanNews reveals his medical has been scheduled at the start of next week.

Milan have reached an agreement with Brescia and the player, who will arrive on loan with an option to buy.

Tonali will reportedly sign a five-year contract with Milan and La Gazzetta dello Sport previously revealed he will earn between €2m and €2.5m a year.

Serie B: Riccardi set for Pescara

Pescara President Daniele Sebastiani said he has an agreement with Roma for Alessio Riccardi.

The young Giallorossi player was linked with a move to Napoli this summer, expected to be included in the deal to bring Arek Milik to the Olimpico.

But the Pesacara patron has revealed Riccardi is set to play in Serie B next season, as the Biancoazzurri Delfini look to improve their position in 2020-21.

“I have an agreement with Roma for Riccardi,” the Pescara President told CalcioNapoli24. “We have already established everything.
