McKennie: 'Can't take ball off Pirlo'

Weston McKennie admits to being a little star-struck by his Juventus teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and coach Andrea Pirlo. ‘He’s so elegant, but you can’t take the ball from him.’

The 22-year-old USA international made the move from Schalke 04 for €23m plus up to €7m bonuses.

“It’s a different level for sure, both on the field and off it,” the former Schalke 04 midfielder told ESPN FC, thanking the Bianconeri for helping him find a house within a couple of weeks and bring his dogs over too.

Inter target Kabak?

Inter have reportedly targeted Schalke defender Ozan Kabak as Milan Skriniar’s long-term replacement.

The 20-year-old moved to Schalke for €15m last summer, only six months after arriving at VfB Stuttgart from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Sky Sport Italia reveals Inter have identified the centre-back, capped twice by Turkey, as a good investment for the future.

Tottenham are currently in talks with Inter over Slovakia international Skriniar and Kabak has emerged as a possible replacement at San Siro.

Report: Milan in Nastasic talks

Milan are reportedly in talks with Schalke over a loan deal with an obligation to buy Serbian centre-back Matija Nastasic.

The Rossoneri have been linked with Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic this summer, but Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims the club has started looking elsewhere.

The report reveals Die Konigsblauen could be willing to let 27-year-old leave on loan with an obligation to buy and the two clubs are currently negotiating the price.

McKennie: 'Juve didn't need to convince me'

USA international Weston McKennie said it’s ‘a great honour to be the first American’ at Juventus and thinks he can help Andrea Pirlo in the ‘recovery of possession’ this season.

The 22-year-old central midfielder, capped 19 times by USA, was presented at a press conference and revealed his dream ‘has become reality’ after signing with the Old Lady.

Weston McKennie described joining Juventus on his 22nd birthday as ‘a dream come true’ and pledged his performances will be ‘all or nothing.’

The midfielder completed his transfer from Schalke 04 last night, on loan for €4.5m with an option to buy for €18.5m and a further potential €7m in performance-related bonuses.

Official: McKennie signs for Juventus

Weston McKennie has officially completed his move to Juventus, on loan for €4.5m with option to buy for €18.5m from Schalke 04, becoming the first American in the Bianconeri jersey.

There could also be a further €7m in performance-related bonuses to add on, so the transfer could eventually be worth €30m ($35m).

According to Sky Sport Italia, the option to buy will become an obligation if McKennie plays 60 per cent of the competitive games in the 2020-21 season.

Kicker: McKennie travels to Italy

Weston McKennie has reportedly left Schalke 04’s pre-season camp, travelling to undergo his medical at Juventus tomorrow.

Kicker reports the midfielder will soon arrive in Italy and undergo the usual examinations on his 22nd birthday, before he signs with Juventus.

Yesterday, Sky Sport Italia claimed the Bianconeri have agreed a €3m loan deal with an option to buy for €18m.

The report from Kicker added that the option becomes an obligation if McKennie plays over 60 per cent of Juventus’ matches in 2020-21.

According to the latest reports coming out of Italy, a deal is done for the USA international and he is already packing his bags for the flight to Turin.

Howedes retires at 32

Former Juventus defender Benedikt Howedes has left Lokomotiv Moscow and decided to retire from football at the age of 32.

The German defender played one season on loan at Juventus in 2017-18, before moving to Russia on a permanent deal from Schalke 04.

“I loved playing football until the end,” he told Der Spiegel. “It’s difficult to give up on this but maybe the coronavirus and the games behind closed doors were the messages I was waiting for to quit.
