Howedes retires at 32

Former Juventus defender Benedikt Howedes has left Lokomotiv Moscow and decided to retire from football at the age of 32.

The German defender played one season on loan at Juventus in 2017-18, before moving to Russia on a permanent deal from Schalke 04.

“I loved playing football until the end,” he told Der Spiegel. “It’s difficult to give up on this but maybe the coronavirus and the games behind closed doors were the messages I was waiting for to quit.

Todibo to Juventus for De Sciglio?

Juventus are reportedly in talks with Barcelona about a potential exchange between Jean-Clair Todibo and Mattia De Sciglio.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Bianconeri were given permission to contact Todibo’s agents over the last few days.

He is currently on loan at Schalke 04, who seem unlikely to take up their €25m option to buy at the end of the season.

The centre-back has already been linked with a Serie A move to Roma or Milan, but Juventus have been in negotiations with Barcelona over a series of different deals.

The Bundesliga returned to the pitch this afternoon, the first major European league to get their fixtures back on track after a two-month lockdown.

Rakitic and Harit 'influenced' Todibo

Jean-Clair Todibo has opened up on his move to Schalke 04, after being close to joining Milan on loan from Barcelona.

The French defender had been targeted by the Rossoneri, who were working hard to get a deal across the line, but as the defender wanted the Blaugrana to include a buy-back clause in his deal, it eventually fell through.

The 20-year-old ended up at Schalke in Gelsenkirchen on loan with an option to buy including buy-back option, just how the centre-back wanted it to be.

Official: Schalke sign Milan target Todibo

Former Milan transfer target Jean-Clair Todibo has officially joined Schalke 04 on loan with €25m option to buy, but Barcelona have a buy-back option of €50m.

The centre-back had been in advanced negotiations for a move to Milan, but could not agree personal terms, nor did the two clubs work out a deal.

The Rossoneri had reportedly been unwilling to take him on loan without guarantees he could remain in future, even if that meant a buy-back option.
