Sampdoria could bring Tissone back

Sampdoria could bring free agent Fernando Tissone back to Serie A after Edgar Barreto terminated his contract early.

The Blucerchiati are a man short in midfield, as Barreto left Samp after five years due to personal reasons a few weeks before his deal was set to expire.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, among the contenders to replace him is Tissone, who will turn 34 next month.

It would be a return to Marassi for the Argentine, because he already wore the Samp jersey from 2009 to 2013, albeit with some loan spells too.

Barreto: 'I didn't want to risk anything'

Edgar Barreto has revealed he didn’t want to ‘risk anything’ as he decided to leave Sampdoria, but the 35-year-old insisted he's not quitting football.

Last week, the Paraguay international terminated his contract expiring on June 30 with the Blucerchiati by mutual consent.

He left the Marassi after five years and after only having played twice in Serie A this term, the 35-year-old decided it was not worth going back to the dressing room.

Barreto to leave Sampdoria early

Sampdoria midfielder Edgar Barreto has reportedly terminated his contract early by mutual consent.

His deal was meant to expire in June anyway, but Il Secolo XIX newspaper’s digital edition claims the decision was down to personal reasons.

The Paraguay international turns 36 in July and has been in Italy since 2007 with Reggina, Atalanta, Palermo and in 2015 Sampdoria.

Barreto made only two Serie A appearances this season, in September and October.

He is set to leave Serie A with 264 games at this level, scoring 11 goals.

The Blucerchiati are on a roll, as after thumping Napoli 3-0, they tore Frosinone apart 5-0 at the Stadio Benito Stirpe.

“There’s no time to enjoy it, because we immediately have another game coming up against Fiorentina,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Udinese end Sampdoria run

Udinese ended their crisis with a 4-0 result, including two penalties, and inflicted the first defeat of the season on 10-man Sampdoria.

The Blucerchiati had been one of only four teams still unbeaten in Serie A, albeit with a game in hand, and fresh from defeating Milan 2-0.

However, they paid for some costly first half errors at the Dacia arena, as Christian Puggioni rushed off his line to clatter Maxi Lopez from behind, prompting a Rodrigo De Paul penalty.
