Lucarelli: ‘Parma are doomed’

Alessandro Lucarelli fears Parma are ‘doomed’ and hits out at Cesena President Giorgio Lugarese for saying he wouldn’t help save them.

The Ducali may not make it to the end of the season, as the club faces a bankruptcy hearing on March 19, and no-one has been paid since July.

“We’re doomed to going under, it doesn’t take a genius to figure it out,” Lucarelli told La Repubblica.

“The only hope that remains is controlled administration and someone takes over at auction.

Lucarelli: 'We fight for football'

Parma captain Alessandro Lucarelli pinned the blame on previous owners and authorities. “We are fighting for football.”

The club is on the verge of bankruptcy with a reported €198m debts and called off their last two Serie A games.

“We had asked for the institutions to protect us and nobody, I repeat nobody, apart from the Players’ Association and Coaches’ Association paid any attention to us or the club,” said Lucarelli in today’s Press conference.

Ghirardi discusses Parma sale

Former Parma President Tommaso Ghirardi discusses his sale of the club, insisting he was ‘betrayed’ by Rezart Taci.

Ghirardi sold the Ducali to the Albanian oil tycoon in December, before the club was then sold on again to Giampietro Manenti for just €1 in February.

‘No Genoa decision’

Parma’s players have still not decided whether or not they will play this Sunday’s game at Genoa, Zouhair Feddal reveals.

Last Sunday’s game at home to Udinese was postponed as the Ducali are unable to afford stewarding costs, and it has been revealed this week that the players will have to drive themselves to Genoa.

‘Parma like the Titanic’

Parma team manager Sandro Melli says the club is ‘like the Titanic’ and reveals problems stretch back further than this season.

The Ducali are at risk of bankruptcy, with players having to wash their kits at home, and furniture from the dressing room being auctioned off.

“I’ve realised that we were on the Titanic,” Melli told Corriere dello Sport.

Parma-Udinese in doubt?

Parma’s financial crisis risks engulfing the rest of Serie A, with reports that Sunday’s game against Udinese is at risk.

The Ducali are in crisis, with players going unpaid all season, and the club facing a bankruptcy petition from the Italian government over unpaid taxes.

To make things worse, the Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta di Parma report that the Emilian side cannot afford to pay police and stewards at Stadio Tardini, meaning Sunday’s game against Udinese will be unable to go ahead.
