Capello advises Fonseca: 'Don't listen to Roman radio'

Former coach Fabio Capello has advised Roma tactician Paulo Fonseca to not listen to Roman radio stations.

After back-to-back defeats to Milan and Udinese, the fans have voiced their concern and Capello has claimed the coach and his players must avoid being influenced by the local Radio stations.

“I didn’t like the Roma I saw over the last two games,” Capello told Sky Sport Italia. “Against Milan the team walked on the pitch.

Capello: 'Milan not nine points worse than Roma'

Fabio Capello has claimed the nine-point gap between Roma and Milan doesn’t represent the difference in quality ahead of this weekend’s match.

Roma sit fifth in Serie A and currently hold a nine-point lead over eight-placed Milan, but Capello has claimed Stefano Pioli has turned things around after replacing Marco Giampaolo at the helm in October.

Capello critical of Sarri choices

Fabio Capello is far from convinced by Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus choices in the Coppa Italia Final against Napoli, including the Cristiano Ronaldo penalty placement.

The game ended 0-0, with Napoli winning the penalty shoot-out 4-2, but CR7 never got to take his kick because he’d been scheduled last.

By that stage, the Partenopei had already converted four, while Paulo Dybala’s was saved and Danilo fired over the bar.

Capello: 'Leaders make difference'

Fabio Capello believes we’ll see ‘home advantage wiped out and real leaders make the difference’ when the Coppa Italia and Serie A return.

We’re three months into the lockdown due to COVID-19 and Calcio is back tonight with the Coppa Italia semi-final Juventus-Milan at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

“The months spent on the couch will take their toll, help propagate injuries, among the other damage left behind by this virus,” Capello told La Repubblica.

Capello: 'Sarri is Total Football'

Fabio Capello agrees with the Matthijs de Ligt suggestion that Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri is ‘the closest Italian equivalent to Dutch Total Football.’

Former Ajax defender De Ligt made the comparison this week, praising Sarri for the tactical approach to the sport.

“If De Ligt says it, then who am I to contradict him?” noted Capello in Tuttosport newspaper.

Serie A Seasons: Roma 2000-01

A passport scandal, a decisive Japanese substitute, the most expensive 31-year-old in Calcio and overly-passionate fans made Fabio Capello’s second season at Roma an ultimately glorious rollercoaster.

Coach Fabio Capello jumped off his seat as hundreds of Roma fans stormed the pitch with five minutes to go against Parma: “You idiots, get off the pitch!” he screamed as he wanted to clear the grass at the Olimpico whilst the intruders stripped his players down to their underpants.

Capello: 'Gasp did nothing wrong'

Fabio Capello has claimed Gian Piero Gasperini ‘did nothing wrong’ and felt the controversy encircling the Atalanta coach has been ‘exaggerated’.

The former Milan, Roma and Juventus coach was happy to learn about the resumption of football in Italy and claimed the players ‘for once’ might have to ‘sacrifice’ and go into a retreat to help Serie A with the conclusion of the 2019-20 campaign.

Only in Serie A: Passaportopoli

When limits on non-EU players were introduced, South American stars got a little creative with family trees, leading to a scandal that put Alvaro Recoba, Juan Sebastian Veron, Dida and others in the dock…

Words: Martin Mork

Several years before Calciopoli, there was Passaportopoli – the scandal that saw South American players trying to get around new limitations on non-EU players by finding long-lost Italian, Spanish or Portuguese ancestors that would guarantee them a passport. If they couldn’t locate a sufficiently European bloodline, that extra branch of the family tree could always be sketched in…

Fabio Capello reveals Ronaldo ‘organised parties’ and brought alcohol into Real Madrid’s dressing rooms but regards him as ‘the greatest talent I’ve coached’

Ronaldo lasted just half the 2006-07 season with Capello at Madrid as he was then sold to Milan in January, and the legendary coach reflected on his time spent with the former Inter striker.

“The greatest talent I’ve coached was Ronaldo,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
