Capello: ‘Balotelli had many chances’

Fabio Capello notes Mario Balotelli has had “many” chances after Roberto Mancini recalled him to the Italy squad.

The striker hasn’t played for his country since the 2014 World Cup, but has been included in the latest Azzurri squad and is expected to face Saudi Arabia tomorrow.

“It’s another chance, and he’s had many,” Capello told Sky.

“If Mancini has given him this chance it means he has faith in him. The shirt of the national team is very heavy, we’ll see if the youngsters can carry that weight.

Capello: 'Juve rivals are weak'

Fabio Capello confirmed his retirement from coaching, gave Gigi Buffon advice and explained why Juventus dominate “weak” Serie A.

The tactician spoke to RMC Sport about several topics, including the Scudetto race that saw Juve pip Napoli to the finish line.

“Napoli are ready to compete with Juventus. Perhaps Maurizio Sarri needs to rotate a bit more and realise he can change system occasionally, something that Roma were also missing at key moments of the campaign,” said Capello.

Capello: ‘Juventus can get eight’

Fabio Capello warns “the Juventus cycle is not over” and they could win an eighth Scudetto in a row next season.

The Bianconeri have extended their own record run by securing this season’s title with a game to spare, not to mention winning a fourth Coppa Italia in a row.

However, Gianluigi Buffon will retire at the end of the season, while Kwadwo Asamoah and Stephan Lichtsteiner will leave, leading some to suggest a changing of the guard could see the Old Lady slip.

Capello: 'Mancini won a great deal'

Fabio Capello believes Roberto Mancini is a good choice for the Italy squad, as he has “won a great deal at club level and has experience internationally.”

Mancini was formally appointed on Monday and presented to the media today.

“He is a Coach who has won a great deal at club level, has experience internationally and can do well, but the results as always depend also on the players,” Capello told Mediaset Premium.

Capello: Technique over tactics

Fabio Capello believes Italy must ease their emphasis on ‘tactics’ and teach their youngsters more about ‘technique’.

Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 60 years, and Capello argued the problem went beyond results, citing Spain as an example for the Azzurri to follow.

“I hear talk about football schools,“ he told Radio Anch’io Sport.

“At the age of 12, kids are always and only given the ball in Spain, while in Italy, it’s all about tactics.

Capello rules out Italy job

Fabio Capello has ruled out becoming Italy’s next CT and warned Roberto Mancini ‘our national team lack talent’.

Capello was recently put forward as a surprise contender to replace Giampiero Ventura, but the former Milan, Roma and Juventus boss made it clear his spell with Jiangsu Suning was his final in management.

“CT? No, I’ve already had my experiences with England and Russia,” the 71-year-old told Radio Anch’io Sport.

Capello joins Italy race?

Former Milan, Roma and Juventus boss Fabio Capello has reportedly joined the race to become Italy’s next CT.

According to Libero, ‘the marriage between the FIGC and Capello is possible’ after the Coach left Jiangsu Suning on Wednesday, while he could be ‘the right man to revive Italy’.

The pair have rarely seen eye to eye over the years, but the federation is undergoing reform, with the veteran’s Milan protégé Alessandro Costacurta currently vice-commissioner.

Antonello: 'Inter plans haven't changed'

Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello assures their “plans have not changed” with Walter Sabatini’s departure, nor will they “dismantle” the squad.

Technical co-ordinator Sabatini terminated his contract by mutual consent this week, just hours after Coach Fabio Capello quit Jiangsu Suning.

“We are surprised that after Sabatini’s departure, there was even talk in the media of dismantling Inter, going so far as to suggest Suning could walk away,” Antonello told news agency Ansa.

Official: Capello leaves Jiangsu

Fabio Capello has officially parted company with Chinese side Jiangsu Suning after less than a year at the helm.

Capello took over a Jiangsu team struggling near the bottom of the Chinese Super League in June 2017 and managed to steer them to safety.

However, the former Milan, Roma and Juventus Coach saw his position come under threat after he opened the new campaign with two defeats.

“Best wishes to Mr. Capello, thank you for your contribution and we wish you good luck for the future,” wrote Inter’s sister club in an Instagram post.
