Cassano: Lost plot at Madrid

Antonio Cassano claims he was signed by Real Madrid to replace Luis Figo but ended up going ‘crazy’ and insulted Coach Fabio Capello “in Spanish and Italian”.

Cassano endured a turbulent 18 months at Madrid between 2006 and 2007, playing just 19 times and being fined for every gram he remained overweight.

“My time at Real Madrid started well,” the former Italy attacker told Canal Football Club.

Capello: When I’ll leave China…

Former Roma and Juventus boss Fabio Capello has confirmed that he will leave Jiangsu Suning once his contract expires next year.

Capello signed an 18-month contract with Jiangsu last summer and successfully kept Inter’s sister club in the Chinese Super League, but the 71-year-old affirmed his stay in China would not be a long one.

“I spoke to the President,” he told Goal.com. “I’ll respect my contract, but I won’t renew it.”

Capello: 'Bonucci can't defend'

Fabio Capello gave a damning description of Milan and Italy star Leonardo Bonucci. “He’s great with the ball at his feet, but he can’t defend.”

The former Juventus centre-back has struggled since the €42m transfer to San Siro this summer.

“Bonucci is the best Italian defender with the ball at his feet, in fact one of the best three in the world,” Capello told Sky Sport Italia.

Fabio Capello believes Roma can win the Scudetto this season - “they have a complete squad and a good Coach”.

Zambrotta: Gattuso like Capello

Former Milan defender Gianluca Zambrotta says he is expecting Gennaro Gattuso to emulate Fabio Capello as a Coach.

Zambrotta played alongside Gattuso for Milan and Italy, winning a Scudetto and the World Cup with the ex-midfielder, and he compared the Rossoneri’s new man at the helm to Capello, whom he is assisting at Jiangsu Suning in China.

“If you look at his preparation and attachment to these colours, it’s barely a surprise,” the 40-year-old told Gazzetta dello Sport.

‘Schick was misinterpreted’

Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco says Patrik Schick’s controversial interview was “misinterpreted”.

The striker gave an interview in his native Czech Republic in which he said he hoped to play for an “even bigger” club than the Giallorossi one day.

Given that he’s barely featured since signing from Sampdoria as he battles injury problems, the interview didn’t go down well in Italy.
