Capello: ‘Mourinho helped Pogba’

Former Juventus Coach Fabio Capello insists Jose Mourinho has “helped” Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman left the Bianconeri to return to Old Trafford in 2016, but he’s had a difficult relationship with the Special One.

“It wasn’t easy for Pogba to get used to English football,” Capello told La Stampa.

Marco Giampaolo’s second chance

With Marco Giampaolo’s incredible work at Sampdoria allowing them to fly high for a second consecutive season, Vilizar Yakimov explains how the 51-year-old is getting back to his early promise.

“One of the most interesting around is Siena boss Marco Giampaolo”. That was Fabio Capello’s answer to the question “Which coach is the new Capello?” in 2009.

Indeed despite the fact Giampaolo’s Siena and, previously, his Ascoli team played some good football at times, Capello’s answer was bizarre to say the least, as Giampaolo’s work at Cagliari was considered as a failure and resulted in his sacking.

Capello: Barella like Tardelli

Fabio Capello says Cagliari and Italy starlet Nicolo Barella reminds him of 1982 World Cup winner Marco Tardelli for his ‘dynamism’.

Barella was considered among Italy’s best performers during the international break, having only made his Azzurri debut in the midweek friendly against Ukraine, before helping them beat Poland 1-0 on Sunday.

“Barella’s the player who can change the tempo in midfield,” Capello told Radio Anch’io Sport.

Capello: Berlusconi is wrong, Roma...

Fabio Capello claims Silvio Berlusconi was wrong to criticise Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso and reveals he would like to return to Roma.

Berlusconi said he ‘didn’t like’ Gattuso’s football, urging the former Milan midfielder to adopt a 4-3-1-2 formation, while Capello led Roma to their last Scudetto in 2001.

“I’m with Gattuso,” continued the legendary Coach to Radio Anch’io Sport.

Capello singles out Italy midfield

Fabio Capello singled out Italy’s midfield for praise after Sunday’s 1-0 win at Poland. “They gave strength and balance to the whole team.”

Jorginho, Marco Verratti and Nicolo Barella stuck together for the trip to Poland and Roberto Mancini’s selections were warranted in the eyes of Capello.

“Italy had a good game and I really liked what I saw,” the former Milan, Roma and Juventus boss told Radio Anch’io Sport.

Allegri targets Capello record

Massimo Allegri wants Juventus to follow in the footsteps of Fabio Capello’s Milan with a record start.

Allegri’s men have won all of their opening 10 competitive fixtures and now sit just three short of equalling the record set by Fabio Capello’s Milan way back in 1992, when the Rossoneri won their first 13 encounters.

“As a young man I liked winning Coaches, like Capello”, Allegri told Corriere dello Sport. “We want to become the number one.”
