Juventus shortage of full-backs

Juventus have barely any available full-backs against SPAL this weekend, as Alex Sandro has flown to Brazil on compassionate leave.

The Bianconeri were already dealing with a huge injury crisis that ruled out Mattia De Sciglio, Danilo, Douglas Costa, Marko Pjaca and Giorgio Chiellini.

Alex Sandro has now been given permission to fly back to Brazil following the tragic death of his father.

Juan Cuadrado has been used so far as a makeshift right-back, but even that might not be enough to fill the gaps.

Historic Muriel double with Brazil

Atalanta striker Luis Muriel bagged an historic brace as Colombia played a 2-2 friendly draw with Brazil in Miami.

Muriel became the first Colombian to put two goals past the Selecao in a single match.

Brazil had gone in front through Casemiro’s header on a Neymar corner, but Juventus player Alex Sandro gave away a penalty, converted by Muriel.

The Atalanta forward then completed the turnaround with a ferocious finish at the end of a flowing team move.

It ended 2-2, as Neymar marked his comeback with the equaliser.

Alex Sandro: 'Juve need to find form'

Alex Sandro admits Juventus “need to find our form physically, mentally and technically, but we’re on the right track” after beating Parma.

The reigning champions opened the Serie A season with a 1-0 victory at the Stadio Tardini, decided by Giorgio Chiellini.

“It was a difficult match, in my view a very physical one and at the end it took a lot out of both teams, which is natural in the opening round.

Dybala arrives back for Juve

Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala has arrived for preseason medical tests after a move to Manchester United broke down.

Dybala checked into J Medical on Monday morning with Alex Sandro, the pair having been given extended summer breaks following their participation at Copa America.

The forward was greeted by chants of ‘stay at Juve’ from younger fans outside the facility.

Copa America: Brazil victorious

Brazil have won the Copa America after beating Peru 3-1, but Gabriel Jesus was sent off, with Alex Sandro and Allan playing.

That was the first and only goal ex-Roma ‘keeper Alisson Becker conceded during the tournament.

After the break, Gabriel Jesus added to his assist with a goal, but was then sent off for a second bookable offence.

Tactical Analysis: Sarri's Juventus

Maurizio Sarri wasn’t always a 4-3-3 tactician, as Elio Salerno goes into a deep dive on what form his new-look Juventus will take.

Now that the speculation is finally over, we can begin considering what Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus will actually look like.

It is widely recognised that the outgoing Chelsea boss favours the 4-3-3 formation. It is the system Sarri deployed whilst at Napoli and continued to use during his single season in the Premier League. Juve have regularly used the same shape under Max Allegri, so it would come as no surprise to see their new tactician maintain that set-up. However, stubborn Sarri has not always been married to that ideology.
