Monaco drop Rugani for Caceres

Monaco have turned to Martin Caceres, it’s reported, so Juventus push Daniele Rugani towards Roma or Barcelona.

Rugani had been the subject of discussions between the two clubs, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport transfer writer Nicolò Schira those talks have cooled considerably.

Instead, Monaco are moving their focus towards another former Juventus defender Caceres, who is currently a free agent.

The 32-year-old Uruguay international had spent the last six months on loan at Lazio.

Roma back in for Rugani?

Roma are again favourites for Daniele Rugani as it is reported Juventus have lowered their demands.

Roma appeared to pull out of a move for Rugani, but Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedulla claims the deal could be back on.

That is because, as well as the collapse in negotiations with Dejan Lovren, Juve would now be prepared to accept a €5m loan with €20m obligation to buy as opposed to €25m.

Roma were initially favourites to sign Rugani, but they then chose to pursue Lovren.

The Croat now does not look like becoming a Giallorossi player after he could not agree personal terms.

It had been thought that the Lupi could go back in for the Juve stopper, but Tuttosport maintains there is no chance of a revival.

Paratici: 'Dybala interest and discussions'

Juventus director Fabio Paratici confirmed Paulo Dybala “interest and discussions,” but not that Daniele Rugani and Mario Mandzukic exits were imminent.

Coach Maurizio Sarri made the situation clear in a Press conference when complaining it was “embarrassing” that he had to cut six players from the current group for their Champions League squad.

While Matthijs de Ligt, Merih Demiral, Gianluigi Buffon and Danilo have come in, only Joao Cancelo, Leonardo Spinazzola and Moise Kean have left.

Roma want Rugani and Lovren

Roma are still in talks with Liverpool for Dejan Lovren, as well as Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, but would only do a deal for €15-20m.

It had been believed that would terminate interest in Liverpool centre-back Lovren, but that might not be the case after all.
