Muslera prepares for Cavani

Lazio goalkeeper Fernando Muslera is looking forward to facing Napoli striker Edinson Cavani at the weekend.

The Uruguayans know each other well from their time together with the national team.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Muslera said: "I know all the Matador's secrets. We often challenged ourselves to a penalty shoot out in training.

"I know where he puts the ball. The problem is that he knows that I know. It would be a great duel.

Lotito denies De Laurentiis punch-up!

Lazio President Claudio Lotito has denied reports of a fist-fight with Napoli patron Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The Gazzetta dello Sport made the outlandish claim that the two Presidents got into a physical scuffle during a Lega Calcio dinner on Tuesday night.

It was reported that Lotito drew up a plan to split television rights with more going to Lazio than Napoli.

This sparked an exchange of words and the alleged punch thrown by De Laurentiis, until Milan's Adriano Galliani and Pietro Lo Monaco of Catania intervened to pull them apart.

The veteran tactician spent four years at Napoli and led the club back into Serie A with back-to-back promotions.

"The experience at Napoli completed me," Reja said. "It will be a great emotion for me at the San Paolo on Sunday.

"The Napoli fans like me a lot and I like them. It will be a really special day for me.

Inter cleared in Pandev-Lazio case

Inter have been cleared by the FIGC Disciplinary Commission of wrong-doing in the controversial transfer of Goran Pandev.

The striker was in a contract dispute with Lazio when he completed his move, free of charge, to San Siro in January 2010.

Lazio claimed the legal process was not finalised by that stage, but the Federation has backed Inter, as Pandev had received permission to terminate his contract with the Biancocelesti.

Lazio linked with Ibisevic

Lazio have made inquiries about signing Hoffenheim striker Vedad Ibisevic, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Hoffenheim plan to sell the Bosnia international in an overhaul of the squad following Ralf Rangnick's departure.

Edy Reja is said to be a great admirer of Ibisevic's ability to play as a second striker and has sent Igli Tare to take a closer look.

The 26-year-old scored 18 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances in the 2008-09 campaign before suffering a serious knee injury, which derailed Hoffenheim's title hopes.

Palermo fight Lazio for Novakovic

Lazio are targeting Slovenia international Milivoje Novakovic, but face competition from Palermo.

It was reported yesterday that the Biancocelesti were showing an interest in the Cologne hitman.

Lazio had scouts in the stands to view Novakovic during the 1-0 Italy victory in Ljubljana on Friday evening.

However, it's now said that Palermo are joining the race for the 31-year-old striker.

They could well have the upper hand, as the Sicilians already have four Slovenians in their squad.

Brocchi 'fears Napoli enthusiasm'

Cristian Brocchi prepares for Lazio's Champions League showdown with Napoli and concedes “their enthusiasm frightens us.”

The two sides are battling for a top four finish, although technically the Vesuviani are still in the Scudetto race too.

“The thing that frightens us the most is their enthusiasm. The San Paolo will be absolutely packed to the rafters,” Brocchi told Lazio Style Radio.

“They'll be eager to beat us because it would be a hugely important result for them and really break away from the chasing pack.

Lazio eye Slovenian Novakovic

Lazio are said to be looking towards Slovenia for their new striker next season in the form of Milivoje Novakovic.

The Biancocelesti were going to bring in another forward during the January transfer window and could still sell Mauro Zarate in the summer.

It's reported the Biancocelesti had scouts in the stands during last night's Euro 2012 qualifier between Slovenia and Italy.

They were watching 31-year-old striker Novakovic, whose contract with Cologne expires in June 2012.

Mauri: Too much negativity at Lazio

Stefano Mauri has taken the bold decision to attack Lazio's fans for transmitting too much negativity to the players.

Lazio have often been whistled this season despite being firmly ensconced in the top five for most if not all of the campaign.

Their fifth defeat in a row to Roma in the Derby Capitolino has added to the pressure even though Lazio are still above their rivals in the table.

The fishy tale of Stefano Mauri

Antonio Labbate writes on Stefano Mauri, the Lazio and Italy player who has turned around his career with the aid of a carp tattoo

Ask Stefano Mauri about the secret to his success and don't be surprised if he rolls up his trouser leg and shows you his right calf. "When I started to play football in Serie B at Modena, I was almost always on the bench," he says. "It was at that time that I got this tattoo of a carp which, according to the Japanese, signifies never giving up."
