Dzeko sub for Roma clash

Edin Dzeko starts on the bench for Manchester City and Roma make six changes for today’s International Champions Cup clash.

The Bosnian striker is a transfer target for the Giallorossi, but won't start in City’s opening match of the pre-season tournament, which kicks off at 11am UK time.

Roma drew 0-0 with Real Madrid in their opening game, before going on to win 7-6 on penalties.

De Rossi: “Don’t mention objectives!”

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi refused to discuss the club’s objectives for the season ahead of their International Champions Cup clash with Manchester City.

The Italy international explained his disappointment at the Giallorossi’s failure to mount a title challenge last season and underlined that tactical systems don’t worry him.

“To talk about objectives now would be to take advantage of me and I’ve had enough,” he said at a Press conference.

Roma beat Real on penalties

Roma's impressive start petered out in the second half, but Real Madrid couldn't capitalise either and the Italians won on penalties.

The Giallorossi played the Spanish powerhouse in Melbourne, in the International Champions Cup tournament.

Both of the teams mixed some of their more prominent stars with a small number of players that required greater testing.

Roma gave a shot to Salih Ucan and Iago Falque, but bolstered them with veterans Daniele De Rossi and Radja Nainggolan in the midfield, and Francesco Totti and Gervinho upfront.
