Friendly: Inter beat PSG on penalties

Samuele Longo cancelled out a Timo Kehrer header in stoppages, then Samir Handanovic saved two penalties in Inter’s shoot-out win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Nicolò Barella got his first start and Antonio Conte again picked Ivan Perisic as a striker, with Lautaro Martinez away following the Copa America, Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan frozen out. This friendly in Macau was their last in the tour of Asia after a defeat to Manchester United and draw with Juventus, losing on penalties.

Handanovic: 'Players have duties'

Inter captain Samir Handanovic admires Antonio Conte’s tough work ethic and warns “players can’t just think they are allowed to do anything. They have duties towards the club.”

The Nerazzurri have clamped down on discipline and hard training sessions under new Coach Conte, with Mauro Icardi and Radja Nainggolan told they are not part of his plans.

“We are happy that Lele Oriali has returned as team manager, because he is the link between the club and squad, he sees everything,” said Handanovic in a Press conference.

Report: Conte has signed for Inter

Antonio Conte has reportedly already signed as Inter Coach to 2022 and will change the entire staff, except the goalkeeping coach.

The Nerazzurri have not even tried to deny the agreement with Conte over the last few days and it would’ve been announced today.

However, it was postponed to Thursday or Friday as a sign of respect after current Coach Luciano Spalletti’s brother passed away this morning.

Spalletti will receive a golden handshake deal to release him from his commitments to Inter.

Inzaghi outsmarted toothless Inter

Lazio were happy to let Inter pour forward with no real incision or genuine threat, explains Elio Salerno, as Simone Inzaghi's gameplan paid off.

Simone Inzaghi tactically out-foxed Inter boss Luciano Spalletti and took Lazio to a thoroughly-deserved victory at San Siro.

Inter started the match in positive fashion, the intensity was high and Lazio were being forced into quick turnovers of possession, allowing Luciano Spalletti’s team to apply early pressure on Thomas Strakosha’s goal. But Inzaghi had come prepared and once the early storm had been weathered, his well thought out plan came to the fore.

Marotta: 'Diplomacy key with Icardi'

Inter director Giuseppe Marotta used “diplomacy” to resolve the Mauro Icardi saga, but won’t reveal why the captaincy was removed. “There are some dynamics that cannot be made public.”

The striker returned to training this week, not having played since he was stripped of the captaincy on February 13 and immediately afterwards felt pain in his knee.

After intensive negotiations with agent Wanda Nara and a lawyer, Icardi finally agreed to resume training with the rest of the squad.

Source: 'Inter split into factions'

An internal source claims the Inter dressing room is “split into three factions” and Mauro Icardi was defending his teammates from Coach Luciano Spalletti’s “hysterical” critiques.

Icardi hasn’t played or even trained with the team since he was stripped of the captaincy on February 13, officially due to a knee injury, although the club medics have given him the all-clear.

La Repubblica newspaper now publishes an expose from an unnamed member of the Inter squad who lifts the lid on what caused the chaos.

Italy's Europa League glass half-empty

Napoli ultimately did what they needed to in the Europa League and Inter, once again, didn’t reach the bare minimum standard, writes Vilizar Yakimov.

Despite Napoli progressing to the quarter-finals, Inter’s exit to Eintracht Frankfurt means that Serie A’s Europa League glass is half-empty once again.

We saw it coming and we can’t really say it was a surprise, can we? Inter put in another dreadful European performance and were deservedly eliminated by Eintracht Frankfurt after suffering a 1-0 defeat at San Siro last night. On the other hand, Napoli lost 3-1 away from home against Salzburg, but still managed to qualify after their 3-0 victory in the first leg.
