Roma have been transformed by a shift in tactics and can unleash those weapons on the Sevilla weak spots, explains Wayne Girard.

As June turned into July, Paulo Fonseca returned to the drawing board following a downturn in his side’s play. Milan, Napoli, and Udinese took nine points away from Roma, forcing the boss to re-examine his tactics and player choices.

While his strategy of total football would undoubtedly remain, there were whispers within the press that the coach was trying out a 3-4-2-1 formation. Yet unforeseen in the first three quarters of the season, it was immediately met with positivity, highlighting certain players’ attributes.

Ronaldo makes Serie A history

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player in football history to score 50 goals in Serie A, La Liga and the Premier League.

The Portugal international hit the target during this evening’s match against Lazio in Turin.

CR7 had already found the net 84 times for Manchester United in the Premier League and 311 for Real Madrid in La Liga.

This was his 61st Serie A appearance, so Ronaldo has also set a new record as the quickest player to score 50 Serie A goals.

Ronaldo close to another record

Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo could become the first player in history to score at least 50 goals in the Premier League, La Liga and Serie A when the Old Lady face Sassuolo tomorrow.

Some Serie A identities are innate

Just as a leopard can't change its spots, some Serie A clubs simply cannot shake their natural identities, for good or bad, writes Susy Campanale.

It’s remarkable that some clubs have an identity firmly entrenched in their very being, which cannot seem to change, no matter how many coaches, players and owners pass through. Inter are the Pazza (crazy) side that will lurch from a magnificent victory to a ludicrous self-inflicted defeat. Roma will always find a way of creating drama and chaos. Lazio forever think like the country cousins in the shadow of their city-dwelling rivals. Juventus grind out results, because winning is the only thing that matters. Atalanta run like the wind, or the Goddess in their club symbol.
