Leonardo: ‘Paqueta yes, Ibra maybe’

Milan “have a basic agreement” with Flamengo for Lucas Paquetà, confirms general manager Leonardo, and have “thought about” Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The attacking midfielder is expected to join the Rossoneri in January for around €35m, and it’s believed he had his medical in Brazil yesterday.

“There’s not much to say,” Leonardo shrugged, speaking to reporters after receiving the Liedholm Award.

Leonardo: ‘Why I joined Inter’

Milan general manager Leonardo explains he went to Inter as Coach “for several reasons” but above all to work with Massimo Moratti.

The Brazilian had two spells with the Rossoneri as a player, and was also Coach for the 2009-10 season.

However, he disappointed many Diavolo fans in December 2010, when he took over their city rivals, though there won't be any split loyalties when the sides meet in the live streaming Milan derby.

Raiola: 'Zlatan prepared for Milan talks'

Mino Raiola said he and LA Galaxy star Zlatan Ibrahimovic are “prepared to talk” to Milan about a move now that they are under new ownership.

The Swede turned 37 this week, but reports continue to gather pace that he could make a return to the club he represented from 2010-12.

“At the moment it’s not a possibility, because the conversations we had with the club are not current, but we are prepared to talk,” agent Raiola told Rai Sport.

Leonardo warns Gattuso

Gennaro Gattuso isn’t in imminent danger of being sacked by Milan, but Leonardo reportedly warned “we have to give a signal in the next few matches”.

The Rossoneri have had a poor start to the season, and after the draw with Atalanta at the weekend they sit 12th in Serie A, albeit with a game in hand.

According to this morning’s Corriere dello Sport, technical director Leonardo has made it clear that a reaction is needed in the coming days, though Gattuso’s job isn’t currently at risk.

‘Milan must change their mentality’

Milan director Leonardo believes the club must change their ‘mentality’ if they want to challenge for the Scudetto.

Milan dropped more points on Sunday, letting Atalanta come back twice to draw 2-2 at San Siro, and Leonardo admits there is a problem with the Rossoneri’s psyche.

“Mentality? It’s not an excuse but if you look at the last five years, Milan finished far away from the top positions,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

‘CL more important than Serie A’

Milan President Paolo Scaroni has claimed that ‘the Scudetto is less important than the Champions League’.

Milan are Italy’s most successful club in Europe, with seven European Cups to their name, and Scaroni expressed his desire for the Rossoneri to tap back into that trend.

“What have I understood in these two months? That there are two mountains to climb: one of building a winning team and another of getting [Milan’s] accounts back on its feet,” he told Corriere della Sera.

Leonardo: ‘Dudelange not easy’

Milan technical director Leonardo insists “it’s not easy to play against” Dudelange, one of their Europa League opponents.

The Rossoneri were handed a tough group with Olympiakos and Real Betis, with the Luxembourg side expected to be the whipping boys of the group.

“There are a lot of Milan fans in Luxembourg,” Leonardo pointed out, speaking to rtbf.be.

“They’re a team we know and it’s not easy to play against them, especially in European competition.

Leonardo: ‘Kaka linked with Milan’

Leonardo confirms Kaka “will be in connection” with Milan, but at the moment “there’s no precise role”.

The Brazilian has been in Italy in recent weeks to discuss a role with the club, possibly in a scouting position so he can remain in South America with his young children.

“Kaka will be tied to us because of the relationship that’s there,” Leonardo assured Sky.

“There’s no precise role, but he’ll be tied to us because he’s indelibly linked to the history of Milan.
