Bacca: 'Gattuso wanted me at Milan'

Carlos Bacca insists Milan Coach Gennaro Gattuso and director Leonardo “wanted me to stay, but I’d already decided” on Villarreal.

The striker spent last season on loan at Villarreal and finally made the move permanent in an exchange deal with Samu Castillejo.

“Right from the start of the World Cup training camp, I felt this desire to come back to what I considered to be my home,” said the Colombia international in his Press conference.

Kaka: Milan have DNA back

Kaka believes Milan’s new-look management team has ‘rediscovered the club’s DNA and recovered their characteristics’.

Elliott Management’s Milan takeover was quickly followed by Gennaro Gattuso being reconfirmed as Coach, Leonardo returning as sporting director and Paolo Maldini coming back to assist the Brazilian.

“The priority for me is still being with my children Luca and Isabela, who are still young and live in Sao Paulo,” the trio’s former teammate told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Leonardo: ‘Never talked for SMS’

Milan technical director Leonardo confirms “there was never a negotiation” for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Despite the director making it clear that the Rossoneri couldn’t afford the Serbian, he was nonetheless repeatedly linked with a move.

Some outlets speculated on a €40m loan with an option to buy next summer, but there were never any real talks.

Silva ‘believes’ in new-look Milan

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva ‘believes’ in the new-look Milan and ‘will support the Rossoneri from afar’.

Silva was part of the last Milan squad to win the Scudetto in 2011 and was widely considered to have been sold to PSG against his will.

“I believe in this Milan. Milan needed them,” the 33-year-old told Gazzetta TV, referring to the returns of Leonardo and Paolo Maldini in non-playing roles.

“Milan can do well, Gattuso’s very good. I’ll support the Rossoneri from afar.”

Kaka open to Milan role

Ricky Kaka admits he is open to a new job at Milan, as “with Leonardo and Paolo Maldini, my bond with the club is even tighter.”

Yonghong Li lost control of the club after failing to keep up debt repayments, allowing US hedge fund Elliott Management to repossess it.

They revamped the structure with technical director Leonardo and director of strategic development Maldini, but now Kaka could join the former teammates.

Bakayoko down to Milan details

Tiemoue Bakayoko is on the verge of a move to Milan, on loan for €5m with option to buy for up to €35m from Chelsea.

The France international turns 24 next week and can celebrate with a transfer to San Siro.

Chelsea paid €40m to get the midfielder from Monaco only a year ago, but he has struggled for regular playing time and is not in new Coach Maurizio Sarri’s plans.

Milan close on Chelsea's Bakayoko

Milan are progressing in negotiations with Chelsea, hoping to take Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan with €35m option to buy.

Bakayoko isn’t even on the bench for Maurizio Sarri’s Premier League debut against Huddersfield Town, which kicks off this afternoon.

He is frustrated at not being considered a part of Sarri’s plans and, turning 24 next month, wants more regular playing time.

Leonardo confirms Carlos Bacca and André Silva could be sold, but Manuel Locatelli won’t be told to leave Milan.

The general manager was at Casa Milan today for Ivan Strinic and Pepe Reina’s presentation, and he was quizzed about players who could leave.

“We have a great relationship with Bacca,” Leonardo replied.

“We’re trying to solve things in a positive atmosphere, he knows the situation and he has his needs, we’ll see if we can resolve things. He could also stay.

'Milan not considering Suso sale’

Milan general manager Leonardo assures “we’ve never thought about” selling Suso, after meeting his agent today.

The Spanish winger has been linked with a move to Roma, and the Giallorossi met with his representative yesterday.

Today Leonardo and Paolo Maldini also met with Alessandro Lucci, fuelling speculation that a deal could be moving forward.

“We’ve never thought about his departure,” Leonardo said in the Press conference to present Pepe Reina and Ivan Strinic.
