Maldini: 'Milan didn't call me'

Paolo Maldini insists “nobody has called me” from Milan’s new owners Elliott Management, but he has “always been open to talk.”

The club icon has been repeatedly linked with a role at San Siro, especially after Yonghong Li lost control to US hedge fund Elliott for defaulting on debts.

“Nobody has called me” from Milan, Maldini told Mediaset Premium.

“I have always been open to talk, so I’ve never closed the door on anyone for at least a dialogue.”

Throughout the course of this ownership dilemma, Milan’s brand has taken quite a hit. The value of the Rossoneri image still remains tremendously high around the world, but the struggles during the past five to six years on the pitch, along with uncertainty at the top, calls for financial stability and total transparency under Elliott Management.

Milan want Arsenal director

New Milan owners Elliott Management have reportedly approached Leonardo, Sassuolo’s Giovanni Carnevali and Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

The club is now in the hands of US hedge fund Elliott Management Corporation after President Yonghong Li defaulted on his debts, so the holding company was repossessed.

Leonardo role in the new Milan?

Milan’s new owners Elliott Management have reportedly contacted former player, director and Coach Leonardo after Paolo Maldini turned them down.

US hedge fund Elliott now effectively run the club after President Yonghong Li defaulted on his debts, but a new Board of Directors will only be voted in after July 21.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the new patrons have approached Leonardo to ask if he would be interested in a new role.

Pirlo reveals tribute match line-ups

The full list of players for Andrea Pirlo’s farewell match has been revealed, including Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, Alessandro Del Piero and Clarence Seedorf.

The former midfielder retired at the end of the 2017 MLS season, but will play in a farewell match at San Siro on May 21.

Some names had already been revealed, but now Il Maestro has announced the full star-studded line-up.

Most of the 2006 World Cup winning squad will be there, as well as legends like Ronaldo, Andriy Shevchenko, Cafu and Demetrio Albertini.

Leonardo leaves Antalyaspor

Antalyaspor have officially confirmed that former Inter and Milan Coach Leonardo has left the club by mutual consent.

The Brazilian has only been on the bench in Turkey for just over two months, but a run of one win in four has seen him leave ahead of Saturday’s game with Gençlerbirliği.

“Our thanks to Coach Leonardo, with whom our paths have divided by mutual agreement,” the club confirmed on Twitter.

Leonardo to leave Antalyaspor

Former Milan and Inter Coach Leonardo is ready to leave Turkish club Antalyaspor after just two months, it’s reported.

The Brazilian only took over on September 28 and had a contract to June 2019.

However, Sky Sport Italia report Leonardo has decided to walk away due to a crisis within the club, which saw the President already resign.

It would open him up to potential jobs in Serie A both as a Coach and director of sport.

Antalyaspor target Antonelli

Milan defender Luca Antonelli could be set for a new experience at Antalyaspor with former Rossoneri Coach Leonardo.

According to Sky Sport Italia, there has been an approach from Turkey for the 30-year-old left-back.

His current contract at San Siro is due to expire in June 2019, but a January transfer is on the cards, as he receives so little playing time.

So far this season, Antonelli has made only seven competitive appearances for the club, scoring one goal, for a total 316 minutes of football.

Leonardo takes Antalyaspor job

Former Milan and Inter Coach has been appointed at Turkish club Antalyaspor on a two-year contract.

The Brazilian made over 100 appearances for the Rossoneri during his playing career, winning the Scudetto in 1999.

He was later appointed as the club’s technical director in 2008, before being appointed as Carlo Ancelotti’s successor the following summer.

The Diavolo finished third in Serie A, but disagreements with owner Silvio Berlusconi saw Leonardo leave after just one season.

Leonardo set for Antalyaspor?

Former Milan and Inter man Leonardo is reportedly set to become the next Coach of Turkish side Antalyaspor.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Antalyaspor are “close” to agreeing a deal with Leonardo after initially looking at Clarence Seedorf.

The Brazilian won a Scudetto with Milan as a player, before coaching them to third in Serie A during the 2009-10 campaign.
