Leonardo: 'Ibrahimovic no, Fabregas maybe'

Milan director Leonardo confirmed Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t leave the LA Galaxy, while they are "evaluating the conditions" for Cesc Fabregas of Chelsea.

The negotiations with Ibra had ground to a halt over the last few days and there were reports a January transfer was essentially abandoned.

“Ibrahimovic will not return to Milan,” director Leonardo told Sky Sport Italia this evening.

Gazidis in stands for Milan

Ivan Gazidis is set to be announced as the new Milan CEO on Saturday, as he is in the stands with Milan President Paolo Scaroni today.

The former Arsenal chief was widely expected to take over the role and nothing is official yet, but this seems to be a form of unofficial statement.

Gazidis was sitting in the stands at San Siro during this evening’s Europa League game against Dudelange.

Milan continue Fabregas talks

Milan continue negotiations with Chelsea for Cesc Fabregas, amid reports he can make the move in January for around €12m.

For the last few days, Radio Rossonera have been stating that director Leonardo was in conversations with Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia.

Several players are on the table, including Gary Cahill and Andreas Christensen, but Fabregas is the main objective.

This is because both Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura are out for several months with injuries, so reinforcements are needed in midfield.

Milan to sign Godin?

Milan are lining up Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin for next season, according to reports this morning.

The Uruguayan defender is out of contract at the end of the season, and so far is yet to sign an extension.

He turned down a move to Manchester United in the summer, as he wants to try to reach the Champions League final at the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to this morning’s Corriere dello Sport, Rossoneri technical director Leonardo is already moving to try and secure Godin for next season.

Milan talks for Rodrigo Caio

Milan director Leonardo has reportedly met with San Paulo to discuss signing Rodrigo Caio, either for €8m or on loan with obligation to buy for €13m.

According to Sport Mediaset, negotiations are in full swing and there are different options on the table.

If the Rossoneri were to purchase the defender outright, the cost would be around €7-8m.

However, if they wanted to take him on loan with an obligation to buy at a later date, it would be far more expensive at €12-13m.

Leonardo on Ibra, Paqueta and Gigio

Leonardo shrugged off Zlatan Ibrahimovic rumours, called Lucas Paqueta “a lad with great promise” and said Gianluigi Donnarumma needs to be more consistent.

There have been multiple reports of a possible return to San Siro for Ibrahimovic in January, especially as the LA Galaxy missed out on the MLS post season with a dramatic Decision Day collapse.

“I think that talking about the transfer market now is a bit out of turn,” Leonardo told RMC Sport.

Leonardo: 'Milan have variables'

Leonardo reassures Milan fans that they are on the right track with Gennaro Gattuso, but the 4-4-2 system is adjustable in future.

The director general sat down with RMC Sport at the Golden Foot awards to discuss the rebuilding of a club that went from Silvio Berlusconi to Yonghong Li and now Elliott Management.

“This is a less victorious moment in the history of Milan, but over 120 years this club has had more ups than downs, so the tendency should point upwards,” said Leonardo.

“For a club like Milan, of course the objective must be to get back into the most important European competition,” Leonardo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
