'Kalinic as good as it gets!'

The agent of Nikola Kalinic claims his situation is 'as good as it gets' at Fiorentina and in Serie A.

The Croatian may just be the most successful price-quality investment in Italian football's transfers of the summer, as he joined La Viola for a fee believed to be of €5.5m, and went on to produce some eye-grabbing performances.

“Nikola is happy, everything's going well,” his agent Tomislav Erceg told Tuttomercatoweb. “He's happy because he came to a competitive league in Italy.

Rossi: ‘Juventus are motivated’

Legendary former striker Paolo Rossi is sure Juventus are “motivated to win their fifth consecutive title”.

When Rossi was playing, the Bianconeri finished fifth in 1985, the year they finally won the European Cup.

With the current side having won just once in six Serie A games, and winning both their Champions League ties, are there any parallels?

“No, it was different in my day,” Rossi told reporters at the Football Heroes museum in Milan.

Morgan De Sanctis [Roma]

A relatively comfortable evening but always ready when needed. First he denied a Marco Borriello bullet with a fingertip save, stopped a Ryder Matos penalty and the subsequent follow-up before saving a strong Kevin Lasagna effort. Alert.

Sizing up the Contenders - Part One

In the first of a two-part blog, Mohamed Nassar analyses three of the potential Scudetto contenders.

Fiorentina

If there is a dark horse running in this season’s race, you can bet that it’s the Viola. With the exception of the fracas with Inter over the ill-fated move of Mohamed Salah, the Tuscans have largely flown under the radar all summer long. Their appointment of Paolo Sousa as Coach seemed a reasonable, but not spectacular, choice and their reinforcements lacked any big marquee signings.
