Azzurri to wear black armbands

Italy will wear black armbands in the Euro 2012 semi-final as a sign of respect for a soldier killed on duty in Afghanistan.

Manuele Braj, who was 30 years old and married with an eight-month-old baby, died in an explosion at a police training camp in Adraskan on Monday.

De Rossi set to face Germany

Italy’s Daniele De Rossi is looking good to be declared fit to face Germany in Thursday’s Euro 2012 semi-final.

There is some doubt over the physical condition of the Roma player after he was replaced in the shoot-out victory over England at the weekend.

The midfielder is struggling with sciatica in his left leg, but he’s undergone extensive treatment over the last 72 hours in a bid to recover.

Rivera ahead of Italy-Germany

Italian legend Gianni Rivera is confident ahead of the Euro 2012 semi-final – although he admits Germany will one day beat the Azzurri.

Italy have never lost a World Cup or European Championship tie against tomorrow’s opponents and Rivera hopes that tradition will continue.

De Rossi – a universal soldier

Euro 2012 should be remembered as the international consecration of Daniele De Rossi, writes Antonio Labbate.

It would be easy to think that the Italian midfield consisted of just Andrea Pirlo in the aftermath of the shoot-out victory over England.
