Women free at Italy-Luxembourg

Women will be given free tickets for Italy’s friendly against Luxembourg on May 29 in Parma as part of a charity initiative.

The FIGC has announced the match will be dedicated to a campaign against domestic violence, so women are to be given free access to the Stadio Tardini for the game.

Prandelli to name 30-man squad

Italy boss Cesare Prandelli is expected to name a preliminary 30-man squad on Sunday before selecting his final party for Euro 2012.

The tactician will unveil his picks at some stage on the last day of the Serie A season. He’ll then have to confirm his 23-man squad between May 12 and 29.

Loyal Prandelli cools expectations

Buffon: I’ll retire when…

Juventus’ Gigi Buffon says he won’t consider retirement until his Italian international career comes to an end.

“I’m 34 and that’s a lot for a footballer, but for my characteristics and my role, that’s not too many,” the goalkeeper stated.

“I’ll only think about retirement when I’m no longer called up to the national side.”

Diamanti has Italy fever

Alessandro Diamanti of Bologna  is still keeping his fingers crossed for a call-up to the 2012 European Championship.

Destro not thinking of Euro 2012

Mattia Destro is remaining cool as whispers start to circulate that he could be a surprise inclusion in Italy’s Euro 2012 squad.
