Sarri option for Milan if Pioli fails top four

Maurizio Sarri is considered a candidate to take over at Milan if Stefano Pioli fails to qualify for the Champions League, claims La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The former Napoli, Chelsea and Juventus coach is still under contract with the Bianconeri, but widely expected to take on a new project next term.

He had been repeatedly linked with the Roma role, but that suddenly went to Jose Mourinho with a surprise announcement yesterday.

Juventus pay 40m for sacked coaches

Juventus risk paying over €40m in three years for sacked coaches Max Allegri and Maurizio Sarri.

The Bianconeri changed manager at the end of each of their last two seasons, despite that coach winning the Serie A title and still being under contract.

Allegri was dismissed in the summer of 2019 after five consecutive Scudetti and reaching the Champions League Final twice.

He still had a year to go on his contract and he took a Sabbatical while it ran down, continuing to pocket a full salary.

Sarri key to Kanté’s evolution

Maurizio Sarri was criticised for his use of N’Golo Kante at Chelsea, but Kaustubh Pandey believes the Italian tactician deserves credit for the evolution of the Blues midfielder.

N’Golo Kante’s performance in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final in Madrid last week was very much a reflection of his evolution as a player over the years.

While it wasn’t the first time he put in a complete performance in the middle of the park, the Frenchman’s late, line-breaking runs past the Madrid midfield left Los Blancos reeling constantly. As much as that has become a regular feature of Kante’s skillset, it is tough to forget that perhaps, Maurizio Sarri really got that side of him going.

Allegri returning to revolutionise Juve?

Max Allegri has been linked with a return to Juventus, and La Gazzetta dello Sport reports he wants the revolution he was denied two years ago.

Allegri left Juventus ahead of the 2019-20 campaign, but has since been linked with a return to the club, both when Maurizio Sarri picked up the ninth consecutive Scudetto and during Andrea Pirlo’s first season as a coach.

Inter are set to end Juventus’ domination in Serie A, but the Bianconeri even risk missing out on the Champions League after Pirlo’s turbulent year as head coach.

Sarri favourite for Roma job

Maurizio Sarri remains the favourite to take over the Roma job next season, as Max Allegri seems unconvinced about replacing Paulo Fonseca.

Despite reaching the Europa League semi-final against Manchester United, Fonseca is not expected to stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

The coach has a difficult rapport with the players and the team sits seventh in Serie A.

La Gazzetta dello Sport maintain Sarri is the most likely candidate, with reports of meetings between director Tiago Pinto and his agent Fali Ramadani.
