Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero won’t judge Max Allegri’s job but says the Bianconeri will ‘make decisions’ and feels ‘something strange’ will happen in the Milan derby tonight.

Juventus and Italy legend Alessandro Del Piero spoke about his former club and tonight’s derby between Milan and Inter in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Juventus will meet Lazio in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semis on Tuesday. The Bianconeri boss, Massimiliano Allegri, is facing an uncertain future in Turin, but Del Piero didn’t judge the Livorno-born coach.

Del Piero on Juventus’ decision about Allegri

“I don’t want to be involved in this. But I read a lot about Allegri and Juventus. Things are pretty clear, but it depends on how you see the situation,” said the former striker.

“One can say that Allegri and Juventus have done all they could or vice versa. Or a mix of the two things.

“It’s a tricky moment for Juventus and it’s been the same for a few years. They’ve faced many challenges on and off the pitch, so they must fix things,” he continued.

“It’s a long path. It’s not easy because you have no time at Juventus and the world watches you. There is great pressure and it must be turned into positive energy. Juventus did it for several months, but now they are no longer doing it. Those who are inside will make assessments and decisions, I am an outsider.”

Del Piero’s ‘strange’ derby prediction

On the other hand, Inter will win the Serie A title tonight if they beat their city rivals Milan.

“I have a couple of Milan friends and a couple of Inter friends,” said Del Piero.

“It’s incredible how they are living this thing, but I keep telling them: ‘Think about how upset we Juventus fans are…’ However, Inter deserved to win the title because they’ve proved to be the best team across the season. The nice thing about these matches is that when everything seems set, something strange always happens.”

Inter have only lost one game this season and are enjoying a 14-point lead over their city rivals with six games remaining.

Daniele De Rossi’s Roma also play today, hosting their direct rivals Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico. Is Del Piero surprised by De Rossi’s impact at the club?

“Yes and no. I followed the coaching course with Daniele and am finishing it now. His attitude, football knowledge, and energy do not surprise me,” said ADP.

“The results may be a little surprising, but the Roma squad is excellent. It’s not easy to do this well in Europe. Sometimes, things just work. I am happy for Daniele because he is an exceptional lad, and he deserves it.”
