OFFICIAL: Pirlo is new Juventus coach

Juventus have officially appointed Andrea Pirlo as their new senior coach after sacking Maurizio Sarri, just a week after hiring him for the Under-23 squad.

“Andrea Pirlo is the new Juventus coach,” read a statement.

Reports: Pirlo to be new Juventus coach

There are growing reports Andrea Pirlo will be announced as the new Juventus coach tonight or tomorrow, having sacked Maurizio Sarri.

Sky Sport Italia claim a decision could be made as early as tonight, at most tomorrow morning, a theory shared by the Corriere di Torino and Corriere della Sera.

According to Juventus reporter Gianluca Momblano, Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and others, Pirlo was spotted attending a meeting this evening at the Continassa headquarters.

Ronaldo: 'Best decisions for the future'

Cristiano Ronaldo wrote an Instagram message after Juventus crashed out of the Champions League and sacked Maurizio Sarri. ‘May us all make the best decisions for the future.’

CR7 bagged a brace in last night’s 2-1 win over Olympique Lyonnais, but that wasn’t enough to overturn the 1-0 first leg defeat and they went out on away goals at the Round of 16 stage.

Conceicao new candidate for Juve job

Another new name has emerged for the Juventus bench after Maurizio Sarri was fired, with links for FC Porto coach Sergio Conceicao.

Sarri was formally dismissed this afternoon, as winning the Scudetto was not enough, considering he lost the Italian Supercup, the Coppa Italia Final and went out of the Champions League at the Round of 16.

Juventus players silent on Sarri

Miralem Pjanic wrote a goodbye message to Juventus, but none of the players have so far said a word about Maurizio Sarri’s dismissal.

The coach was fired this afternoon, a result of last night’s Champions League Round of 16 exit to Olympique Lyonnais.

It was Pjanic’s final game in the Bianconeri jersey ahead of his transfer to Barcelona.

Pochettino favourite for Juve, but Pirlo...

Mauricio Pochettino remains the favourite for the Juventus job after Maurizio Sarri’s sacking, with Simone Inzaghi, Zinedine Zidane and Andrea Pirlo other candidates.

Sarri was formally fired this afternoon, an inevitable reaction after the Champions League Round of 16 exit at the hands of Lyon.

The hunt is on for a replacement, especially as pre-season training will begin within a couple of weeks.

Juventus deny Paratici axe

Juventus have told news agency Ansa that reports director Fabio Paratici will be fired are ‘totally unfounded’ after announcing Maurizio Sarri’s dismissal.

The club is in the midst of another revolution after their Champions League Round of 16 exit at the hands of Olympique Lyonnais.

It was reported that after Sarri was sacked, director Paratici could soon follow.

Sarri sacking costs Juve 20m

Juventus sack the Scudetto winner for the second year running, but Maurizio Sarri’s contract means this decision will cost €20m.

After Max Allegri was dismissed last year, despite becoming the first coach to secure five consecutive Serie A titles, Sarri has also been officially axed this afternoon.

While Allegri still had one year left on his contract and was therefore paid to take a Sabbatical last term, the situation is different for Sarri.

OFFICIAL: Juventus have fired Sarri

It is now official that Juventus have sacked Maurizio Sarri after just one year at the helm, despite winning their ninth consecutive Serie A title.

The decision was made in a crisis meeting this afternoon between President Andrea Agnelli, directors and the coach.

An announcement was made at 13.40 UK time.

“Juventus Football Club announces that Maurizio Sarri has been relieved of his post as coach of the First Team,” read the statement.
