Thohir to sell Inter shares?

Inter President Erick Thohir is reportedly looking to sell his 30 percent stake in the club.

According to Corriere della Sera, Thohir is seeking a minimum of €150m for his shares in Inter, thereby valuing the club at €500m.

The Indonesian’s role for the Nerazzurri has been increasingly marginalised since Suning Group’s takeover in the summer of 2016, despite still holding the official title of President.

The newspaper notes Suning will welcome a new investor ‘with open arms’ as opposed to buying out the 48-year-old.

Inter President Erick Thohir warns Mauro Icardi’s price for Italian clubs is €400m, and confirms talks to raise his release clause.

The striker has a €110m release clause in his contract, but it’s only valid for foreign clubs in the first two weeks of July.

Some sources have claimed that Juventus are interested in signing him this summer, but the Nerazzurri chief has made it clear they won’t do business with the Old Lady.

Thohir: Inter want CL semis

Inter President Erick Thohir claims ‘now we want the Champions League semi-finals’ after singling out the club’s ‘220m fans in China’.

Inter ended a seven-year absence from the Champions League on Sunday as they pulled off a dramatic 3-2 victory over Lazio, and Thohir wasted no time in setting the bar high.

“The objective was to return to the Champions League within five years and we’ve succeeded in doing so,” he told republika.co.id.

Inter, Milan and Genoa transfer probe

Inter President Erick Thohir and former Milan CEO Adriano Galliani are reportedly under investigation for transfer deals with Genoa.

According to the Corriere della Sera and Calciomercato.com, the courts are looking into suspicious moves that took place between these two clubs and Genoa in 2013.

They are considering the possibility of another ‘plusvalenze’ scandal – the practice of selling barely-known players to another club for a hugely inflated fee, therefore tricking the balance sheets.

Report: Suning want to sell Inter

Suning Group would gladly sell Inter, claims the Corriere della Sera newspaper, but nobody is ready to pay €600m for the club.

The rapport between Chinese giants Suning and Inter has been gradually deteriorating, as Financial Fair Play issues and the failure to qualify for Europe saw them tighten the purse strings.

Today, technical co-ordinator Walter Sabatini terminated his contract by mutual consent just hours after Fabio Capello quit as Coach of their other football club, Jiangsu Suning.

Medel rues Inter ‘confusion’

Gary Medel claims ‘confusion’ was behind his failed spell at Inter and that the club were ‘better under an Italian owner like Massimo Moratti’.

Medel made over 100 appearances for Inter between 2014 and 2017 but left for Besiktas without any silverware and played under two owners, as well as four permanent Coaches.

“I gave my soul to Inter, it’s a shame that I didn’t win anything,” the defender-midfielder told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Thohir's Inter payment under investigation

La Stampa newspaper claims that Inter are under investigation by money-laundering officials over Erick Thohir’s payments in 2013.

The Indonesian patron, who bought out previous owner Massimo Moratti, is still a minority shareholder and technically the President of Inter, despite selling most of his stake to Chinese company Suning Group.

According to today’s edition of La Stampa, two bank bonds issues from October 11 to November 15 in 2013 raised suspicions with Italian officials.

Inter ‘shouldn’t be registered in Serie A’

A leading Italian financial newspaper says Inter’s accounts should have prevented them from registering for Serie A.

While the FIGC and the Lega Serie A don’t apply UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules, there are nonetheless measures in place whereby clubs have to prove their finances to register ahead of the season.

Today Gianni Dragoni of Il Sole 24 Ore has analysed the club’s recent financial results and concluded “one wonders how the Nerazzurri can be admitted to the Serie A championship”.
