Erick Thohir insists he has not stepped down as Inter President but admits “I don’t know what’ll happen”.

Thohir was recently quoted as saying that he had handed in his resignation due to his marginalised involvement at Inter following Suning Group’s takeover, but the Indonesian claims he is still on the Nerazzurri’s board for now.

Thohir: ‘Italian club’ to win CL

Inter President Erick Thohir has admitted that he wants Juventus to win the Champions League Final but referred to them as “the Italian club”.

Thohir joins former Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi in publicly backing Juve over Real Madrid for Saturday’s showdown but seemingly failed to mention Juve out of loyalty to Inter.

“Certainly I’ll support the Italian club because they’re certainly a good team and with that, Serie A would improve its image,” he told the Indonesian Press, reports Calciomercato.com.

The last Milan Derby hurrah

As the faces of both Milan clubs change forever, Richard Hall saw the past and future collide in the Derby della Madonnina.

The stage was set by the choreography in the stands before kick-off at a packed San Siro. Inter fans reflected the departure of Frank de Boer and embracing of a more Italian identity with Stefano Pioli by referencing an old song in Milanese dialect, concluding with ‘I Pussee Bej’ – the most beautiful. Milan marked what is likely the final derby before Chinese investors buy the club by covering the entire Curva with a giant image of President Silvio Berlusconi with his 30-year trophy haul.

Dysfunctional Inter

The last week has proved Inter are a thoroughly dysfunctional club with no communication, strategy or chance of success, writes Susy Campanale.

Clubs fire Coaches all the time in Serie A and some, like Palermo, have become leading experts in the field. Even the Sicilians and their trigger-happy President Maurizio Zamparini didn’t make as much of a spectacle of themselves as Inter did this week. This is a new low.

Inter ignore their history

Another Coach will arrive, probably not for very long, and Richard Hall expects the same mistakes to be repeated at Inter.

There cannot be many teams in European football who wrap themselves in their history more than Inter. The irony is there are few who operate in a manner that is so far removed from what made them great. This is the perpetual struggle that the Nerazzurri find themselves in and this season is no different.

Inter cut directors out of meetings

Inter owners Suning reportedly cut Italian directors out of meetings with potential Coaches Marcelino and Stefano Pioli, listening to agent Kia Joorabchian.

The club fired Frank de Boer this week, just four days after President Erick Thohir and CEO Michael Bolingbroke publicly backed the tactician.

This would explain why they are not involved in the decision on who to hire next, especially amid reports Bolingbroke is on vacation and therefore not attending the meetings.
