Allegri: ‘More pressure on Napoli’

Max Allegri believes there’s more pressure on Napoli to win the league than Juventus because “it’s the only objective they have”.

The Bianconeri are six points clear at the top of Serie A, and they face Maurizio Sarri’s side on Sunday night in Turin.

“Juventus have 84 points right now, and in another season that would be close to winning the league,” Allegri pointed out in his Press conference ahead of the Crotone match.

Khedira: ‘Can’t change decision’

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira admits there’s still bitterness over their Champions League exit but “we have to accept it, we can’t change it”.

The Bianconeri were 3-0 up against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu on Wednesday, a result which would have sent the quarter-final to extra-time.

In injury time though, Medhi Benatia was adjudged to have fouled Lucas Vazquez, and Cristiano Ronaldo converted the penalty to send Juve out.

“Playing at the Bernabeu and coming back is almost impossible,” Khedira told Sky.

Juve consider 4-2-4 at Madrid?

Juventus are reportedly considering a 4-2-4 formation for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid.

According to Tuttosport, the 4-2-4 is one of two formations Juve could adopt when they try to overturn their 3-0 deficit at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The newspaper explains the first is a 4-3-3, with a midfield of Blaise Matuidi, Miralem Pjanic and Sami Khedira in midfield supporting Gonzalo Higuain and two of Douglas Costa, Juan Cuadrado and Mario Mandzukic up top.

Khedira: ‘Don’t know about Can’

Reports in the U.S state Sami Khedira admitted Liverpool’s Emre Can will join Juventus, but the midfielder replies “I must have a twin brother…”

Can is out of contract at the end of the season, and the Bianconeri have made no secret of their desire to bring him to Turin.

Bianconeri bench decisive again

Once again, Juventus strength in depth proved the difference from both impressive Milan and tiring Napoli, writes Emmet Gates.

It was billed as a potential banana skin for Juventus, a match against a Milan side that hadn’t lost in Serie A since before Christmas, and won eight of their last 10 matches. The game was given further significance when Napoli stuttered away to a Sassuolo side that had accrued seven points from their last 30 earlier in the evening. A Bianconeri victory could stretch their marginal two-point lead. And win they did.

Allegri: 'Juve sent a signal'

Max Allegri believes the 3-1 win over Milan “sends a signal” that Juventus are back on track and praised Sami Khedira’s intelligence.

Leonardo Bonucci had cancelled out the Paulo Dybala opener, but late on Khedira provided an assist for Juan Cuadrado’s diving header and then scored the third himself.

“I’m happy for Bonucci that he got a goal, but I’m even happier that Juventus won,” Allegri told Mediaset Premium.

Juventus went old school

This season has been one of change in Turin but, as Adam Digby explains, the Old Lady went back to her tried and trusted methods at Wembley.

Maybe it was something about being in the “home of football” that made him do it, but after a season in which Max Allegri has looked to make changes to his usual approach, the Juventus boss reverted to old school defensive grit in order to grind out a crucial victory.
