Inter still have a chance to beat Juventus‘ point record in Serie A, but must win all the remaining matches.

Antonio Conte’s Juventus hold the record for the most points collected in a single Serie A campaign. The Bianconeri managed 102 in the 2013-14 season, securing the second consecutive Scudetto. One year earlier, they had won the first domestic title in the post-Calciopoli era, remaining unbeaten in 38 matches.

Juventus literally dominated Serie A between 2011 and 2020, winning nine Serie A titles in a row. But the second season under Conte was one of the most terrific in terms of domestic results for the Old Lady. Their dominance was similar to what Simone Inzaghi’s Inter are showing this term.

The Nerazzurri are top of the table with 76 points. They’ve won 24 games from 29, drawing four times and losing only once. If they win all the remaining nine matches this term, they’ll beat the Juventus record by one point.

Tactical Brilliance and Consistent Performances

Inter are by far the best-performing team in Serie A this season. They have the most prolific attack and the less-beaten defence in the league and of course, the best goal difference, +57.

If you watch any YouTube video of their games this season (this was one of the best), you’ll understand why they’ve been so brilliant. Simone Inzaghi has developed a team that lost many players during the summer. Romelu Lukaku, André Onana, and Milan Skriniar, just to name a few, left the Meazza and were perfectly replaced by the club. The coach did the rest.

The Role of Squad Depth and Player Morale

Players have always been in a good mood this season. Aside from the recent scandal involving Francesco Acerbi, there were no controversies around the club and even the Champions League elimination in the Round of 16 didn’t affect the footballers’ morale.

Inzaghi always relied on the team’s depth, often rotating his squad and giving all players chances to play and show their skills on the pitch. Inter’s league win is almost inevitable but the question remains: Will they be able to beat Juventus’ point record?

The Derby Against Milan

A key game in the final part of the season will be the derby against Milan on April 22. The Nerazzurri have won the last five meetings with their city rivals, including two in the Champions League semis last season and one in Serie A this term when they secured a 5-1 win.

If they beat Milan again this term, they could secure the 20th Serie A title in history in front of their city rivals, another source of pride for Inzaghi and his boys.
