Caceres has Southampton medical

Former Juventus defender Martin Caceres could join former Napoli forward Manolo Gabbiadini at Southampton.

The 29-year-old has been a free agent since being released by the Bianconeri last summer, but moves to Trabzonspor and Fiorentina broke down after the medical stage of the transfer.

Milan were the latest club to deal with the player, but after an extensive medical the move ultimately collapsed due to wage demands.

Galliani: 'Milan can't spend money'

Milan CEO Adriano Galliani admits Martin Caceres “considered our proposal insufficient” and he is not allowed to spend any money.

The Rossoneri host Sampdoria in the early Serie A kick-off, follow all the action as it happens on the Liveblog.

“The results aren’t coming at the moment, but it’s difficult to explain, because analysing all the fitness stats Milan are doing better now,” the CEO told Mediaset Premium.

Milan confirm Caceres won't sign

Milan confirmed that Martin Caceres turned down their contract proposal, so he’ll look to England or Russia next.

The Uruguay international has been a free agent since his deal with Juventus expired in June 2016 and has not played a competitive game for a year now.

He passed his extensive medical this week, but failed to agree personal terms.

There were reports over the last couple of days that negotiations were hitting problems and this morning Milan TV confirmed the move was off.

Milan's new Caceres offer

Milan have made a new offer to Martin Caceres, including bonuses for every game he plays, but the Uruguayan wants more.

The versatile defender passed an extensive medical on Friday and has been negotiating personal terms.

Last night it was reported by Sky Sport Italia that the talks had broken down, as Caceres wanted €1.5m for six months, whereas the Rossoneri were offering €700,000 including bonuses.

Report: Milan scrap Caceres move

There are reports Milan baulked at Martin Caceres wage demands after he passed a medical, so the move could be off.

The Uruguay international is a free agent and has been ever since his contract with Juventus expired in July 2016.

He was flown in to undergo a thorough medical after injuries to Mattia De Sciglio, Davide Calabria and Luca Antonelli.

Caceres passed, but according to Calciomercato.it and Gazzamercato, talks are on the verge of breaking down over wage demands.

Caceres passes Milan medical

Martin Caceres has reportedly passed his Milan medical, and will now work out personal terms.

The Uruguayan international arrived in Italy last night for tests, ahead of potentially signing a four-month contract.

Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani is looking for a low-cost reinforcement to solve a defensive injury crisis, and Caceres is a free agent after leaving Juventus at the end of last season.

Now MilanNews is reporting that the defender has passed his medical, and must now agree on a contract.

Caceres flies in for Milan medical

Martin Caceres has landed in Italy and will undergo a medical with Milan tomorrow, preparing to sign the four-month contract.

The Uruguay international has been a free agent since his contract with Juventus expired in July 2016.

He had been very close to several clubs during the last few weeks, including Fiorentina and Crystal Palace, but both times the move fell apart.

It’s reported that was due to his excessive wage demands more than the failure of a medical.

Galliani meets Caceres tonight?

Milan CEO Adriano Galliani will reportedly meet free agent Martin Caceres tonight to discuss his possible signing.

It emerged earlier today that the Rossoneri were considering the defender following injuries to Mattia De Sciglio, Luca Antonelli and Davide Calabria.

Now Milan TV believes that Galliani will meet with the Uruguayan tonight to provisionally discuss a transfer.

Caceres would then be subjected to medical tests to assure he isn’t carrying an injury and could contribute right away.

It’s reported that Milan are interested in Martin Caceres as they look to solve their defensive injury crisis.

The Uruguayan has been a free agent since leaving Juventus at the end of last season, and has been linked with Crystal Palace and Inter.

Now Sky is claiming that the Rossoneri are also interested, as they have a series of defensive injuries.

Martin Caceres is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace, but Fiorentina are reportedly looking to hijack the deal.

The Uruguayan has been a free agent since leaving Juventus at the end of last season, and saw a move to Turkey fall through.

It’s believed the defender is in London to undergo a medical with the Eagles, but Gazzamercato reports that the Viola are looking to hijack the deal.

It’s thought the Tuscan side have made contact with Caceres to try and convince him to move to Florence, having been close to signing him last week.
