Napoli zoom in on Zaha?

Napoli are interested in Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, claim the Daily Mail, seen as an alternative to Nicolas Pepe.

The right-sided winger is also an Ivory Coast international and had been linked with Arsenal, who beat Napoli to Pepe’s €80m signature from Lille.

According to the Mail newspaper, Zaha would cost £60m (approximately €68m), because proposals from Arsenal and Everton were turned down.

It’s believed Palace would be more open to selling the 26-year-old abroad than to another Premier League club.

Release clause for Lozano?

Napoli target Hirving Lozano has a €42m release clause in his PSV Eindhoven contract, claim reports, as talks with Mino Raiola continue.

The Mexico international had been one of the first names on Carlo Ancelotti’s list this summer, but is coming back around after problems with other options such as Nicolas Pepe and James Rodriguez.

PSV Eindhoven were knocked out of the Champions League preliminary round last night by FC Basel, which makes it much more likely they’ll sell Lozano.

Report: Kean rejected Arsenal

Juventus striker Moise Kean rejected Arsenal for Everton because of the Toffees’ desire to build their team around him, it is claimed.

Kean is on his way to Everton in a deal worth around €30m plus bonuses, with Juve only retaining right of first refusal.

However, Italian journalist Alvise Cagnazzo – writing for the Daily Mail – claims the 19-year-old also received an offer from Arsenal.

Mustafi agent: 'No Roma contact'

“There has been no contact with Roma or any other Italian club,” insisted Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi’s agent.

Social media lit up over the last couple of days with rumours of Roma interest in the centre-back, but they seem to have originated in England and not Italy.

“It’s news to me,” Mustafi’s father and agent told Romanews.

“There’s nothing in it. There has been no contact with Roma or any other Italian club.”

Khedira continues Arsenal talks

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira is discussing personal terms with Arsenal, but would have to take a pay cut.

The veteran is into the final season of his contract in Turin and has been urged to seek a transfer elsewhere.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, his negotiations for an Arsenal move have hit some problems.

It’s because Khedira currently earns €6m per year at Juventus, including performance-related bonuses.

However, the personal terms offered by Arsenal are a two-year contract worth €4m per season.

Verratti agent: 'Pepe price excessive'

Nicolas Pepe is set to join Arsenal for €80m and Marco Verratti’s former agent insists Napoli were right to pull out. “The price is excessive.”

The Lille attacking winger had been in advanced negotiations for a move to Napoli, with his agents flying in by helicopter for talks, but Arsenal offered better personal terms and agreed to pay the large commission for his representatives.

“Pepe plays in a puppet league where the only team is Paris Saint-Germain,” Verratti’s former agent Donato Di Campli told Radio Kiss Kiss.

Ancelotti: Insigne, Callejon, Tierney...

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti declares Lorenzo Insigne is ‘back’, Jose Callejon is an option for central midfield and ‘we’re not interested’ in Kieran Tierney.

Insigne scored and assisted twice during Napoli’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool on Sunday, with Callejon playing as one half of a midfield double pivot.

“Icardi’s an Inter player. Now I’m thinking about Milik who scored or Mertens who had a super match,” Ancelotti said after the game.

'Why Pepe chose Arsenal over Napoli'

Nicolas Pepe’s camp claims the Lille winger rejected Napoli because Arsenal’s offer was ‘more convincing, both financially and in terms of the sporting project.’

Pepe is on his way to Arsenal in an €80m deal after Napoli failed to agree personal terms with the Ivorian, although they too were prepared to meet Lille’s asking price.

It is also understood Partenopei President Aurelio De Laurentiis was not keen on paying out so much in commission to the player’s representatives.
