Ranocchia eyes 'extraordinary' feat

Andrea Ranocchia believes Inter are working towards ‘something extraordinary’ under new boss Antonio Conte.

Inter picked up wins against Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur at the International Champions Cup and have begun the 2019-20 campaign with back-to-back victories in Serie A.

“We must stay on this path,” Ranocchia told Sky Sport Italia.

“The season is long and there are many commitments awaiting us. Now the games have started coming every three days.

Ranocchia: 'Inter are my family'

Andrea Ranocchia thanked his “family” Inter for a contract extension. “I’m happy that my love for the club was recognised.”

The defender had been the captain a few years ago, but despite receiving less and less playing time, he always remained committed to the Inter cause.

“By the time this contract expires, I will have been with the Nerazzurri for 11 seasons. That’s a lot and I am very happy, because this club is a family to me,” Ranocchia told Inter TV.

Official: Ranocchia extends with Inter

Inter have signed defender Andrea Ranocchia to a new contract until June 2021. “The fans recognise Andrea as an Interista at heart.”

It is reported to be a deal worth €1.5m per season plus performance-related bonuses.

The former captain has been at San Siro since January 2011 and went from mocked error-prone centre-back to fan favourite for his commitment to the cause.

That was reflected in the statement released by the Nerazzurri to announce his contract.

Ranocchia: 'Derby win a response'

Andrea Ranocchia feels Inter beating Milan in the Derby della Madonnina was “a response to the fans, everyone around us, but also ourselves.”

The Nerazzurri hadn’t done the double over their city rivals in Serie A since 2011-12, but achieved that feat this season.

“We are very happy to have overtaken Milan in the table and broken away from Roma,” Ranocchia told news agency ANSA.

“Besides, winning a derby is always good, but winning two is better.”

Report: Inter to renew Ranocchia

Inter are reportedly ready to offer long-serving defender Andrea Ranocchia a new contract.

According to Calciomercato.com, Inter want to ‘reward’ Ranocchia for his loyalty and have offered him a one-year extension.

However, the website notes the stopper is holding out for ‘at least two years’ on top of his current deal, which expires this summer.

The 31-year-old has made 193 appearances for the Nerazzurri since arriving from Genoa in 2011, but only five have come this season.
