According to Sky Sport Italia Roma owners and Daniele De Rossi haven’t yet agreed on the details of a new deal, but the ex-midfielder has already been confirmed for next season to send a message to the players and the fans.

Roma owners Dan and Ryan Friedkin announced on Thursday morning that Daniele De Rossi would continue as the Giallorossi head coach in 2024-25.

The 2006 Italy World Cup winner was appointed in January to replace José Mourinho and has won 11 games from 16 at the Stadio Olimpico.

Sky Sport Italia correspondent Angelo Mangiante reported live from Trigoria on Thursday afternoon, saying that Roma owners were unhappy with Mourinho for the team’s result and his constant complaints about referees. De Rossi’s style on and off the pitch is very different from Mourinho’s, but according to the report, DDR hasn’t yet signed a new contract with the club.

His current deal expires in June, but the two parties will surely reach an agreement to continue beyond the summer. According to the report, De Rossi could sign a two or three-year contract, but his salary hasn’t yet been determined.

Roma’s announcement came only a few hours before a Europa League quarter-final second leg against Milan at the Stadio Olimpico and it was a strong message for the players and especially the fans who had been pushing for DDR’s extension for several weeks.
