Fonseca favourite for Roma

Sinisa Mihajlovic is leaning towards an extended Bologna stay and has doubts over the Roma job, so Paulo Fonseca of Shakhtar Donetsk is the new favourite.

The Giallorossi are seeking a new Coach after sacking Eusebio Di Francesco in March and with Claudio Ranieri’s caretaker experience coming to an end.

Antonio Conte, Gian Piero Gasperini and Maurizio Sarri all turned Roma down, but it looks as if Mihajlovic will also reject the job.

Milan dragged into modernity

Rather than downsizing of ambitions, fans should see the Ivan Gazidis revamp as dragging Milan into becoming a modern football club, writes Richard Hall.

A new era is emerging for the Rossoneri and it doesn’t include Gennaro Gattuso or Leonardo. Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has moved on behalf of Elliott Management to make sure the club operate with a new philosophy, even if it is based out of necessity. There will be no more big transfer fees, there will be a concerted effort to balance the books and there will be a focus on youth. Whilst this might be an unfortunate situation for the red and black half of the city, it could just perhaps be the making of them.

'Miha to Roma? We'll see...'

Sinisa Mihajlovic’s agent has refused to rule out a move to Roma for the Bologna boss. “We’ll see, they’re looking for a Coach...”

Sky Sport Italia reported earlier that Roma were working on a deal to bring in Mihajlovic, and Federico Pastorello admitted the Giallorossi were a possibility for the Lazio old boy.

“I’d say the track to Lazio isn’t one to follow,” he told cittaceleste.it.

Furthermore, he has the full backing of incoming sporting director Gianluca Petrachi, who worked with the Serb at Torino.

The 50-year-old is in high demand after guiding Bologna to safety and spent two seasons with the Giallorossi as a player.

Roma need new Coach candidates

Roma have been turned down by Antonio Conte and Gian Piero Gasperini, so look to Marco Giampaolo, Roberto De Zerbi or Gennaro Gattuso.

The Giallorossi sacked Eusebio Di Francesco in March and brought in Claudio Ranieri as caretaker manager, but are finding it difficult to lock down a long-term replacement.

Conte was their first choice, but has just agreed terms with Inter, while Gasperini committed his future to Atalanta with a new three-year contract today.
