Maxi Lopez: 'Lo Monaco threatened to puncture my tyres'

Crotone forward Maxi Lopez reveals Catania chief Pietro Lo Monaco wanted to ‘puncture the tyres’ of his Ferrari and admits he ‘never had time to belong’ anywhere, having played for 13 different clubs in 19 years.

The Argentine has scored once in eight games for Serie B side Crotone this term, on a deal set to expire in June 2020, but when the 36-year-old is looking back at his career, he points out that he has not been able to leave Italy.

Bani: 'Bologna an example'

Centre-back Mattia Bani hopes Bologna can be 'an example' to help 'unite' Italy and reveals the return of Sinisa Mihajlovic ‘became adrenaline’ for the group.

The 26-year-old arrived in Bologna last summer and soon after his new coach Mihajlovic was diagnosed with leukaemia.

Mihajlovic underwent a bone marrow transplant after chemotherapy and last month he was sent to Rome by the club’s medical staff because coronavirus would be extremely dangerous for him during his recovery.

Eriksson: 'Miha became one of the best'

Former Lazio coach Sven-Göran Eriksson has revealed that he had to convince Sinisa Mihajlovic to play in defence. “He became one of the best in the world”.

Eriksson moved to the Biancoceleste after a successful stint at Sampdoria and brought the former Yugoslavia international to the Italian capital for €17m.

The Swedish coach followed up his Coppa Italia triumph with the Blucerchiati by leading Lazio to a domestic double in 1999-00.

Miha: 'Juve still the best'

Sinisa Mihajlovic insists that Juventus are still the team to beat in Serie A, claims Bologna are the “most booked” team in the world and feels Atalanta have “deserved” their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The last Serie A match that was carried out before the forced break was a game between Juventus and Inter in an empty Allianz Stadium.

The Bianconeri won the game 2-0 and are back on top of the standings in Italy, something Mihajlovic feels represents the gap of quality between the Old Lady and the rest.

Miha: 'Afterwards it will be beautiful'

Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has revealed that he takes comfort from his previous experiences and has reassured that “everything will be beautiful” after the current lockdown.

Mihajlovic is staying at home during the Coronavirus outbreak, just like the rest of the Italians are, and in an interview with the Gazzetta dello Sport, the 51-year-old points out that a lot has happened since he spoke to them about his experiences on his 50th birthday.

Bologna sent Mihajlovic away for protection

Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has been sent to Rome by the club’s medical staff, because Coronavirus would be extremely dangerous for him during his recovery from leukaemia.

Emilia-Romagna was one of the three regions hit hardest by the outbreak in Italy, along with Lombardy and Veneto.

Although all of Italy is now in lockdown to stem the spread of the highly-contagious respiratory illness, several Serie A players at Juventus, Sampdoria and Fiorentina have tested positive.

Kolarov: 'Miha my idol'

Roma left-back Aleksandar Kolarov spoke of his admiration for Bologna coach Sinisa Mihaljovic. “He’s my idol, a true warrior.”

Kolarov, gave an interview to a Serbian TV programme called ‘Sport Roads’ about his relationship with the current Rossoblu boss.

“All of my family support Sinisa at this time, my son adores him. I have a great rapport with him, we have spent a lot of time together,” Kolarov told the broadcaster.

Eto'o: 'Juve should play as Sarri's Empoli'

Former Inter striker Samuel Eto’o says he would like to see Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri return to the style of play he implemented at Empoli. “The coach I saw at Empoli is very different to the one of Chelsea and Juventus.”

Eto’o gave an interview to Sky Sport Italia, and talked about several coaches currently plying their trade in Serie A.

The former Cameroon international says he was a great admirer of Sarri’s Empoli side.

Bologna 'deserved to win'

Bologna assistant manager Emilio De Leo reveals Sinisa Mihajlovic thought they “deserved to win” after a 1-1 draw with Udinese.

Stefano Okaka was allowed a free header from a Rodrigo De Paul free kick, while Rodrigo Palacio only managed to tap in the equaliser in stoppages.

“The mentality we want to drill into the squad is that we don’t look at the difficulties, but at the opportunities,” De Leo told Sky Sport Italia.
