Mihajlovic: 'Bologna must have courage'

Sinisa Mihajlovic wants to see more ‘courage and risk-taking’ from Bologna after their 2-0 defeat to Juventus and explains his philosophy in the first post-match interview since his leukaemia diagnosis.

This was their first match back since the lockdown, whereas Juve had already played two Coppa Italia fixtures.

Sinisa Mihajlovic assures Bologna will always ‘play to win and keep our heads up’ against Juventus or any other opponent. ‘We’re not content to settle for Serie A safety.’

Official: Mihajlovic renews with Bologna

Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has officially extended his contract with the club until 2023.

Mihajlovic had two years left on his previous deal, but Bologna were especially keen to retain him, in light of his cancer treatment.

The Serb returned in January 2019 and led the Rossoblu to safety in his first season, picking up 30 points from just 17 games.

He was diagnosed with leukaemia ahead of 2019-20 but is on the road to recovery after undergoing a bone marrow transplant.

Mihajlovic: 'The worst is behind me'

Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is feeling stronger every day after battling leukaemia with a bone marrow transplant. ‘Hopefully, the worst is behind me.’

The Serbian tactician was diagnosed a year ago and today stood up at the Stadio Dall’Ara as the testimonial for a campaign seeking bone marrow donors.

“It’s such a small thing for the donor, but imagine the feeling of knowing you saved someone’s life,” said Mihajlovic.

Fenucci: 'Long-term plans with Miha'

Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci wants to offer Sinisa Mihajlovic a long-term deal at the Renato Dall’Ara and points out that the Serie A clubs are working to complete the current campaign.

The FIGC is currently meeting with the clubs to settle the regulations for the resumption and the proposal raised to only relegate two teams from Serie A this campaign.

The Rossoblu CEO has claimed the teams are trying to complete the current championship and points out that the Federcalcio chief Gabriele Gravina should have the final word.

Bologna staff clear of COVID-19

Bologna are breathing a sigh of relief after Sinisa Mihajlovic’s staff member twice tested negative for COVID-19, so normal training can resume.

The club was on red alert yesterday when announcing that a member of the coaching staff was ‘suspected’ positive for coronavirus.

However, today there were two swabs taken in the space of several hours, as well as blood tests, and all of them came back negative.

Bologna case: Second test negative

The second coronavirus test of the subjected team member at Bologna has come back negative, another in-depth examination will take place in the next few hours.

The club has confirmed that the latest test for COVID-19 of a member suspected to have caught the infection was negative.

“The first control test carried out on the team member, whose last examination had shown a doubtful result, gave a negative result,” Bologna confirmed according to Sky Sport Italia.

Bologna: 'Mihajlovic doesn't have COVID-19'

Bologna director Marco Di Vaio confirms Sinisa Mihajlovic is not the member of staff who is suspected to have COVID-19. ‘We are awaiting more tests.’

A statement was released this afternoon, announcing “the latest round of medical tests revealed one suspected case of COVID-19 for a member of staff.

“Pending further test results, the team will take the precaution of training individually and at different times tomorrow, without any use of communal facilities.

Bologna reschedule to avoid heat

Bologna have reportedly rescheduled their training sessions and will start early in the morning, worried about the heat and risk of injuries.

The Corriere di Bologna has revealed that the Rossoblu are preparing to find a way to tackle the proposed summer games this year.

Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men have accordingly changed their routine at the Dall’Ara and returns after two and a half months of inactivity with a completely different programme.

Kolarov committed to Roma

Aleksandar Kolarov has decided to stay with Roma and could even have a future role as a director, it’s reported, rather than join Bologna.

The 34-year-old has been at the Stadio Olimpico since 2017 and is under contract until June 2021, although there is an option to automatically extend to 2022 if he plays a certain number of games.

There had been interest from Bologna, where he’d reunite with old friend Sinisa Mihajlovic.
