Milan: Donnarumma out 'for weeks'

Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is expected to be out for several weeks with a thigh injury, while Lucas Paqueta faces a ‘long’ spell on the sidelines.

Sport Mediaset and Sky Sport Italia report Donnarumma suffered a flexor injury in his right thigh after he was forced off just 11 minutes into Milan’s 1-1 draw with Udinese.

The websites add Paqueta will need more tests on his right ankle later in the day but that he risks an extended period on the treatment table.

Paqueta & Kessie to miss Juve?

Lucas Paqueta and Franck Kessie are reportedly major doubts for Milan’s next game against Juventus on Saturday.

Paqueta left Milan’s 1-1 draw on Udinese with crutches, while Kessie picked up a knock just before Tuesday’s match.

According to Tuttosport, the Brazilian ‘will almost certainly’ miss the trip to Turin with a ‘bad’ ankle sprain.

His fellow midfielder would also be ‘at risk’ of not facing the Bianconeri due to ‘inflammation’ in his knee.

Paqueta and Donnarumma miss Juve?

Lucas Paqueta and Gianluigi Donnarumma are both serious doubts to feature when Milan take on Juventus this weekend.

Both players limped off during the first half of this evening’s 1-1 Serie A draw with Udinese at San Siro.

Goalkeeper Donnarumma was caught outside his penalty area after misjudging a long ball, then as he twisted to put it out for a corner, pulled up with a muscular problem.

Paqueta was on the receiving end of a rough Valon Behrami tackle and sprained his right ankle.

Milan: Donnarumma 'wins' award

Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has ‘won’ the Golden Tapir award for his howler against Sampdoria on Saturday.

Satirical news programme ‘Striscia la Notizia’ decided to award the ‘Tapiro d’Oro’ to Donnarumma after his mistake gifted Sampdoria a 1-0 victory over Milan at the weekend.

The gag prize is given to someone who has been notably embarrassed or defeated in the preceding week, and the 20-year-old had the misfortune of receiving it on April Fools’ Day.

Mirabelli: I beat Raiola

Ex-Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli claims he will go down in history as the only person to have ‘beaten’ Mino Raiola.

Mirabelli was Milan’s sporting director when Donnarumma signed his last contract in the summer of 2017, although it was not without controversy as Raiola regularly threatened to find a new club for the goalkeeper.

“Donnarumma’s renewal with Milan was a masterstroke. We didn’t pay any commission,” he told Libero.

It’s been a while since there has been so much enthusiasm surrounding Italy. Roberto Mancini’s appointment after the Swedish nightmare raised some eyebrows, but despite winning just three of the nine games he’s been in charge of, Mancio managed to give identity to the team.

Milan Derby turnaround

The Derby Della Madonnina is upon us, so Football Italia Chief Correspondent Richard Hall sees how both rivals changed since the last clash

It was Fyodor Dostoevsky who said: “Taking a new step, uttering a new word, is what people fear most.” And yet this is what Milan did. In October, the world seemed a very different place for both the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri, especially as the latter had just won the Derby Della Madonnina at the last gasp thanks to Mauro Icardi’s strike. It seems so distant now, as the trajectory of both clubs changed radically over the last five months.
