Milan break clean sheet curse

Milan finally kept their first clean sheet of the season, but Alessio Romagnoli confirmed his status as the king of stoppage-time goals.

The Rossoneri snatched a third consecutive Serie A victory 1-0 at Udinese and, just like the midweek rescheduled Week 1 fixture against Genoa, it was decided by their captain deep into injury time.

It’s becoming a habit, because Romagnoli’s last three goals all came after the 90th minute.

Milan match 1933 record

Milan have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of the opening 10 Serie A rounds for the first time since 1932-33.

The Rossoneri remain the only team in the top flight this season yet to keep out their opponents after tonight’s 2-1 win over Genoa.

That rescheduled Week 1 fixture means Milan have conceded in each of their first 10 games of the season, something they hadn’t managed since 1932-33.

The last Diavolo clean sheet in Serie A was 0-0 at home to Napoli on April 15, leaking goals in their next 16 matches.

Leonardo on Ibra, Paqueta and Gigio

Leonardo shrugged off Zlatan Ibrahimovic rumours, called Lucas Paqueta “a lad with great promise” and said Gianluigi Donnarumma needs to be more consistent.

There have been multiple reports of a possible return to San Siro for Ibrahimovic in January, especially as the LA Galaxy missed out on the MLS post season with a dramatic Decision Day collapse.

“I think that talking about the transfer market now is a bit out of turn,” Leonardo told RMC Sport.

Lafont: ‘I ignore racism’

Fiorentina goalkeeper Alban Lafont reveals he was racially abused while playing in France but “I didn’t listen”.

The Viola signed the youngster from Toulouse in the summer, and the 19-year-old has been labelled the French Gigio Donnarumma.

“It doesn’t bother me,” Lafont told Tuttosport.

“On the contrary, it’s a compliment. But I’m me and he is him.

Gattuso defends Donnarumma

Milan Coach Gennaro Gattuso defends Gianluigi Donnarumma - “anyone who plays football can make mistakes”.

The young goalkeeper has come in for increasing criticism this season, which reached a head when he came out for a Matias Vecino cross against Inter on Sunday, failing to reach it before Mauro Icardi headed home a late winner.

“There were mistakes on the goal, not just Donnarumma,” Gattuso said in his Press conference ahead of the Real Betis game.

Gattuso: 'Milan have derby regrets'

Gennaro Gattuso concedes “Inter deserved it more than us, but if it had ended 0-0, there would’ve been some real positives” for Milan.

Although Mateo Musacchio and Mauro Icardi had goals disallowed for offside in the first half, the Rossoneri ultimately had only one real shot on target.

Deep into stoppages, Gianluigi Donnarumma didn’t come out for a Matias Vecino cross, allowing Icardi the free header.

San Siro shot-stoppers

While Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is the second top shot-stopper in Serie A this season, his Milan counterpart Gianluigi Donnarumma is statistically the worst.

Mauro Icardi and Gonzalo Higuain will battle it out in attack and be in individual duels with their opposition ‘keepers.

In this scenario, it’s worth looking at not so much the clean sheets – of which Milan have zero this season compared to Inter’s three – but the number of goals that were avoided.
