Lukaku worth the risk for Conte

Antonio Conte has wanted the Belgian for years, so Sam Wilson analyses how Romelu Lukaku will fit in to this Inter side.

It was one of the most widely discussed and covered rumours of the summer, but last week Inter Milan officially confirmed the signing of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United. The fee stands at €65m plus €10m in bonuses and a five per cent cut of any future transfer fee. It represents a big gamble on behalf of the Nerazzurri for a player who has drawn a lot of criticism over the past few seasons in England.

Inter block Chiesa to Juventus

Inter and Fiorentina are reportedly combining forces to block Federico Chiesa’s move to Juventus, sending him to San Siro in 2020 for €70m.

It is another step towards a Cold War between former Juve colleagues and now bitter rivals, Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici.

For several months now, Sky Sport Italia have reported that Juventus had agreed personal terms with Chiesa and his entourage, with the player pushing to be allowed an exit.

Report: Icardi only wants Juve

Roma and Monaco are actively making moves for Mauro Icardi, but it is reported the Inter striker only wants Juventus.

Gianluca Di Marzio, Sky Sport Italia and Calciomercato.it all report Roma spent Monday pressing for Icardi.

The Giallorossi had been targeting Gonzalo Higuain, but the Juve hitman is so far resisting any moves away.

With that in mind, the possibility of a swap deal involving the 26-year-old and Edin Dzeko is gaining traction.

Fonseca: 'I'm counting on Dzeko'

Roma Coach Paulo Fonseca expects “courage” against Real Madrid and assures Inter target Edin Dzeko will be in the starting XI.

There had been reports Dzeko asked to be left out of the squad for this friendly at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening, as he is pushing for a transfer to Inter.

“Dzeko will certainly start, as I am absolutely counting on him and my main focus in the transfer market is the arrival of a new centre-back,” Fonseca told Sky Sport Italia.

Conflicting Icardi reports emerge

There are conflicting reports on Mauro Icardi’s situation, as some point to Napoli, others that he’ll leave for nobody except Juventus.

The striker was given yet another push towards the exit yesterday when new signing Romelu Lukaku was given his Number 9 jersey.

Napoli and Man Utd call Llorente

Napoli and Manchester United have approached free agent Fernando Llorente, claim reports, and he is asking for a €4m salary.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the former Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur striker has set out his personal terms.

The 34-year-old Spaniard wants a three-term contract that would earn him €4m per season.

As he is a free agent, Llorente would still be able to sign for Manchester United, even after the Premier League transfer window shut.
