Wanda: Can't say 'no' to PSG

Wanda Nara claims “no-one can say ‘no’ to Paris Saint-Germain” after praising the club for giving Inter loanee Mauro Icardi a ‘great welcome’.

Icardi joined PSG on deadline day earlier in the month, having spent all summer out in the wilderness at Inter, and the striker played the final half-hour against Strasbourg on Sunday.

“I’m very happy, the match went well,” she told Tiki Taka after the French giants won 1-0, courtesy of Neymar’s last-gasp goal.

Di Canio: 'PSG natural home for Icardi'

Paolo Di Canio blasts Mauro Icardi for being “incapable of anything a modern striker should do” and calls PSG “the natural home of undisciplined players.”

The former Lazio and West Ham star is no fan of the Inter-owned forward and made that clear in an interview with Il Mattino newspaper.

“Why did Carlo Ancelotti want someone like Icardi at Napoli? Someone unable to apologise to his teammates for the words of his wife-agent?

PSG chief hails Icardi capture

Paris Saint-Germain chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi says his club have signed ‘a truly great striker’ in Inter loanee Mauro Icardi.

Icardi was persona non grata at Inter after he was stripped of their captaincy and went on self-imposed exile but managed to secure a deadline-day move to PSG last week.

“He’s a truly great striker and we’re happy to have him,” Al-Khelaifi told Corriere dello Sport.

“His Serie A numbers prove he’s a good player and we’re banking on him.”

'Milik-Llorente better than Icardi!'

Aurelio De Laurentiis believes Napoli are better off with Arkadiusz Milik and Fernando Llorente over Mauro Icardi, who has it ‘easier’ at Paris Saint-Germain.

Napoli are expected to vie for the Scudetto with Juventus and Inter this season, but De Laurentiis revealed he tried to take Antonio Conte before Carlo Ancelotti.

“I can’t talk about the other teams because it’s too early to assess their strengths,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

Lautaro: 'Surprised by Argentina role'

Lautaro Martinez is “surprised by just how much playing time” he’s getting for Argentina and confirms Mauro Icardi “had hoped to stay at Inter.”

The 22-year-old striker has become a regular at international level, scoring six goals in 12 senior caps.

“I am happy to be here, especially as many of the squad were also my teammates during the Copa America,” El Toro told Tyc Sports.

Tommasi: 'Ultras safe havens in stadiums'

Players’ Association President Damiano Tommasi urged “courage” to fight racism in football and destroy “safe havens” for ultras in the stadium.

The issue reared its ugly head again when Romelu Lukaku was racially abused by Cagliari fans, but what really took the story around the world was the open letter from a group of Inter ultras in the Curva Nord who insisted it was not racism, but a way of ‘helping the team’ by putting him off his game.

Careca: 'Lukaku better than Icardi'

Napoli legend Antonio Careca maintains Romelu Lukaku is a better striker than Mauro Icardi. “The Argentine doesn’t make the difference.”

Lukaku was brought in from Manchester United for €65m plus bonuses, a club record, while Icardi moved to PSG on loan with €75m option to buy.

“Icardi could’ve played for Napoli and nobody would’ve blocked it. That’s a real shame,” Scudetto winner Careca told Il Giorno newspaper.

Wanda won't rule out Juve

Wanda Nara admits while Mauro Icardi is ‘honoured’ to join Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus were ‘interested’ and she ‘thinks’ the striker will return to Serie A.

It had long been reported that Icardi’s preference was Juve in the event he could not stay at Inter, although the Argentine ended up signing for PSG on deadline day earlier in the week.

Wanda: No Inter divorce

Wanda Nara says Mauro Icardi and Inter are only ‘taking time to reflect’ and that he lost the captaincy because the club wanted to sell him.

Icardi finally left Inter on Monday, joining Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan with a reported €70m option to buy, but Wanda made it clear the striker still had the Nerazzurri in his thoughts.

“It’s not a divorce, Mauro and Inter are like lovers who are taking time to reflect,” she told Corriere della Sera.
