Report: Roma eye three deals

Roma are reportedly looking to make as many as three signings in January to bolster their defence, midfield and attack.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma’s primary defensive target is Juventus stopper Daniele Rugani but failing that, they will go back in for Schalke’s Matija Nastasic.

Nastasic was heavily linked with the Giallorossi over the summer and has Serie A experience with Fiorentina, while he is ‘considered not irreplaceable’ by Schalke.

Berardi or Immobile for Italy

Roberto Mancini has still not decided who to use in attack against Portugal, as Ciro Immobile and Domenico Berardi are both tested.

The Nations League clash kicks off at San Siro on Saturday at 19.45 GMT.

Federico Bernardeschi is out injured, so the trident attack used against Poland has to change.

It had seemed as if Lazio forward Immobile would become the centre-forward, moving Lorenzo Insigne back to his more traditional wide left role.

Berardi liability for Sassuolo

Domenico Berardi marked his 150th Serie A appearance this week, in which the Sassuolo talent amassed 49 goals, 49 yellow cards and four red.

The 24-year-old winger has long been one of the brightest potential stars in Italian football and a top flight regular since 2014.

However, he continues to be held back by his temper and unfortunate lack of discipline.

The story is told in the statistics, because the 0-0 draw against Sampdoria on Monday evening was his 150th Serie A game.

The third coming of Boateng

In his third Serie A stint, Kevin-Prince Boateng is finding a new lease of life at Sassuolo both on and off the field, writes Emmet Gates.

Kevin Prince Boateng stood poised in the 99th minute at the Sardegna Arena. His new club, Sassuolo, had just won a penalty against Cagliari and Boateng was tasked with nabbing an equaliser. Boateng, with all his experience (Sassuolo the 10th club of his career) raced towards the spot and coolly dispatched the ball into the bottom left hand corner of Alessio Cragno’s goal. A 2-2 draw salvaged for Roberto De Zerbi’s men.
