Ausilio: 'Lazio won't sell Candreva'

Piero Ausilio confirms Inter tried to sign Ezequiel Lavezzi and Soufiane Feghouli, but doubts Lazio will sell them Antonio Candreva.

The director spoke to Gazzetta TV this evening and discussed the strategy for the January transfer window, including a reported battle with Juventus for Paris Saint-Germain forward Lavezzi.

Italy lack guarantees

The two friendlies against Belgium and Romania were far from reassuring, writes Edo Dalmonte.

It’s been almost 18 months since Antonio Conte took over as Italy CT from Cesare Prandelli following a catastrophic World Cup. With only a handful of games left before the Azzurri travel to France, it’s fair to ask ourselves what we know about this team. So far, the answer is very little, and the Azzurri’s 3-1 defeat to Belgium and 2-2 draw against Romania provided us with more questions than answers.

Berardi: 'Italy remains a dream'

Domenico Berardi scored for the Azzurrini and said the senior Italy squad “remains a dream.”

The Sassuolo forward netted in the 2-0 victory over Lithuania, a splendid volley with his weaker right foot.

“We did well today and the game immediately got on the right track,” he told reporters.

U21: Azzurrini defeat Lithuania

Domenico Berardi and Marco Benassi scored scorchers as Italy Under-21s beat Lithuania 2-0 and now lead their group.

The Azzurrini were joint top of their European Under-21 Championship qualifying group with Serbia after three wins and a 1-1 draw in Novi Sad on Friday. They are now sole leaders, as today Serbia lost 2-0 in Slovenia.

Atalanta’s Alberto Grassi came in for suspended Danilo Cataldi with 18-year-old Milan full-back Davide Calabria also a new entry in Castel di Sangro.

Di Francesco: ‘Guardiola my idol’

Sassuolo Coach Eusebio Di Francesco says Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola is his ‘idol’ and that Domenico Berardi ‘is 'our Arjen Robben.’

The Neroverdi have been in great form so far this season and currently occupy fifth place in the table, five points from the top of Serie A.

Di Francesco told Gazzetta dello Sport about some of his tactical concepts and the talented Berardi.  

“Guardiola is my idol, I stole off him the idea of having two players always supporting the man on the ball,” he said.

Juventus have reportedly renewed their interest in Chelsea’s Oscar and he could enter into talks about Juan Cuadrado.

Berardi ‘likes La Liga a lot’

Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi hints at a Barcelona move despite interest from Juventus: “I like the Spanish league a lot.”

The forward has been linked with a number of clubs but today gave an indication of his preferred destination.

Sassuolo’s managing director Giovanni Carnevali says Juventus ‘aren’t the only team chasing Domenico Berardi.’

The Old Lady’s interest in the Italian starlet is no secret, but Barcelona sporting director Ariedo Braida has also been spotted at the Mapei Stadium recently.
