‘No Napoli bid for Berardi’

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali insists “we’ve had no requests from Napoli” for Domenico Berardi.

It had been suggested that the forward could join the Partenopei next summer, while Roma are also thought to be interested.

“I can say that we’ve had no requests from Napoli,” Carnevali said on Radio Bruno.

“The lad is at work to return to his levels, but he can’t be distracted by transfer market rumours, otherwise he risks not being at the level you need for a big club.

Roma return for Berardi

Roma are once again interested in Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi, and are planning a summer transfer, according to reports.

The forward worked under Giallorossi Coach Eusebio Di Francesco during his time on the Neroverdi bench, and was touted as a possible signing in the summer.

The capital club were put off by the €50m asking price then, but Corriere dello Sport is reporting today that sporting director Monchi is working on a deal.

Napoli: Player-plus-cash for Berardi?

Napoli will reportedly go back in for Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi with a player-plus-cash offer next month.

According to Il Mattino, Berardi could seek a change of scenery after mustering just one Serie A goal for Sassuolo all season.

Consequently, the Partenopei would be prepared to offload defenders Lorenzo Tonelli and Nikola Maksimovic in exchange for the 23-year-old.

Maksimovic has failed to hold down a place in Napoli’s starting XI since arriving last year, while Tonelli has regularly been left out of their squad altogether.

Iachini: ‘No magic wand’

New Sassuolo Coach Beppe Iachini warns “I have no magic wand” after he replaced Cristian Bucchi.

It was confirmed yesterday that the Neroverdi had opted to make a change on the bench, with the former Palermo and Udinese Coach taking over.

“First of all I want to salute Cristian Bucchi,” Iachini said at his Press conference today.

“In our line of work these things happen, he has my gratitude for the things he did and my affection too.

Berardi open to Di Francesco reunion

Domenico Berardi’s agent confessed the Sassuolo talent would consider it “an honour to work with Eusebio Di Francesco again” at Roma.

The forward became a sensation at the Mapei Stadium under Di Francesco, who left this summer and tried to bring the Italy international with him.

“We have a lot of respect for Di Francesco, so must thank him both personally and professionally,” agent Simone Seghedoni told Rete Sport.

Berardi out for a month?

Sassuolo winger Domenico Berardi is reportedly facing a month out after suffering another knee injury.

The claim was made by Sky Sport Italia on Friday afternoon, just two days before Sassuolo were due to take on Serie A table-toppers Napoli.

If true, it leaves the Neroverdi in a precarious position, with the side only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

Worse yet, the 23-year-old had missed most of the first half of last season with a similar injury.

Bucchi: Berardi not ‘in crisis’

Cristian Bucchi insists Domenico Berardi is not “in crisis” after another quiet game for Sassuolo during their stalemate with Chievo.

Berardi has now scored just one goal in six Serie A appearances for Sassuolo, whose 0-0 draw with Chievo leaves them only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

“Results determine the position and self-esteem of a team,” the under-fire Coach said after the game.

Ventura must take the blame

Italy unveiled a new badge and kit against Macedonia, but Adam Digby saw the same old Coach and uninspired performance.

A draw. With Macedonia. At home. If ever a result summed up Italy during Giampiero Ventura’s tenure, it was this: the Azzurri held to a disappointing 1-1 stalemate by a team they should have brushed aside comfortably. The performance was every bit as uninspiring as the final score would indicate, and the 69-year-old can expect to be completely lambasted by the national and international media alike in the coming days.

‘Sassuolo expect Berardi improvement’

Sassuolo director general Giovanni Carnevali expects “a leap in quality” from Domenico Berardi this year.

The forward has rejected Juventus in the past, and a proposed move to Napoli this summer never materialised.

The club are hoping to keep Berardi and make him a symbol, but they’re expecting a big season from his this year.

“We rejected important bids for Berardi in the summer,” Carnevali said on Radio Sportiva.

“Now we expect a leap in quality from him.
