Celades: 'Defuse Atalanta goal bomb'

Valencia coach Albert Celades cannot explain their injury crisis, but assures they will “use all the weapons at our disposal to defuse the goal bomb that is Atalanta.”

The first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 kicks off on Wednesday at 20.00 GMT.

Los Che made the trip without Alessandro Florenzi, Ezequiel Garay, Gabriel Paulista, Francis Coquelin, Rodrigo, Manu Vallejo and Cristiano Piccini.

“Unfortunately, we are accustomed to injuries by now,” said Celades in his press conference.

Florenzi has chickenpox

Roma-owned Alessandro Florenzi has been diagnosed with chickenpox, announced Valencia, so it’s not clear how long he will be out for.

The 28-year-old made the move to the Mestalla on a six-month loan in January and his time there has already been eventful.

He has made three competitive appearances for the club and was sent off for a straight red card offence in the 3-0 Liga defeat to Getafe.

Now a statement released by Valencia confirms Florenzi has been diagnosed with adult chickenpox.

Florenzi sees red at Valencia

Roma-owned Alessandro Florenzi received a straight red card during his second start in a Valencia jersey.

The 28-year-old Italy international was dismissed for a foul on Marc Cucurella 78 minutes into this afternoon’s 3-0 Liga defeat away to Getafe.

He had already been booked on his only other Liga appearance against Celta Vigo, while coming off the bench for just three minutes in the Copa del Rey defeat to Granada.

Florenzi joined Valencia on a six-month loan from Roma so he could get regular playing time in the build-up to Euro 2020.

Roma running in circles

Roma brought in three young talents, but kicked out Alessandro Florenzi, so Vilizar Yakimov is trying to make sense of yet another controversial transfer strategy.

It’s really hard to find logic behind most of Roma’s decisions on the transfer market in recent years. However, if you look carefully into the Giallorossi dealings since James Pallotta took over the presidency in 2011, one pattern stands out.

Florenzi: 'Not ready to talk yet'

Alessandro Florenzi will fly out to Valencia for his medical, completing a six-month loan from Roma. “I am not emotionally ready to talk yet.”

According to multiple sources in Italy and Spain, the Giallorossi captain has accepted a dry loan – so no option to buy – until June 30.

This will give him regular playing time in the build-up to Euro 2020, something Paulo Fonseca could not guarantee him at the Olimpico.

Florenzi is expected to fly out for his medical tomorrow morning.

Florenzi to Valencia on loan

Roma have agreed to let Alessandro Florenzi leave the club for Valencia, but only on a six-month loan, according to reports in Italy.

Florenzi had been linked with a permanent move to La Liga, with the Spanish side in talks to buy the right-back with first a loan which would be later turned into an obligation to buy.

However, Sky Sport Italia and SportItalia state that now the agreement is simply a dry loan, with no option to buy for the 28-year-old.

Report: Florenzi 'yes' to Valencia

Roma captain Alessandro Florenzi has reportedly told Valencia that he’s ready for a move to the La Liga club.

Valencia are, according to multiple reports in Italy, in ongoing talks with the Giallorossi about a transfer for Florenzi.

Both Sky Sport Italia and Calciomercato.com reports that the two teams aren’t agreeing on the details of a proposed transfer.

Los Che are allegedly hoping to bring Florenzi on loan for the rest of the season with an obligation to buy the player for €16m or €17m in July.
