Gattuso risks five-match ban

The latest indications from UEFA are that Rino Gattuso will receive a five-match ban for unsportsmanlike conduct after his clash with Joe Jordan.

Gattuso was seen to raise his arms at the Tottenham assistant manager during the first leg of Milan's Champions League knock-out match on Tuesday evening.

He sought out Jordan again after the final whistle and attempted to head-butt the Scot.

UEFA plan to meet and discuss the incident on Monday with a view to meting out a punishment for Gattuso.

Gattuso so lucky

Milan are facing a Champions League exit, but the home defeat to Spurs could have been even worse as John D Taylor explains

Rino Gattuso is a lucky man. Lucky to stay on the field despite persistent fouling against Tottenham. Lucky not to receive a straight red for pushing Peter Crouch in the chest. Lucky not to receive the same punishment for two touchline bust-ups with Joe Jordan. And lucky that the Spurs Coach didn't take up his offer of a dust-up behind the bike sheds afterwards to settle their differences.

UEFA to sanction Gattuso

UEFA have revealed that they will discuss what disciplinary action to take against Rino Gattuso following his antics last night.

The Milan midfielder pushed Tottenham assistant manager Joe Jordan in the face during the match and attempted to head butt the Scott after the final whistle.

Gattuso later apologised for his actions and is already suspended for the second leg of the Last 16 match after picking up a fifth yellow card.

However, he is expected to receive a much bigger ban for gross misconduct.

Redknapp: 'Spurs must have-a-go'

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp insists his side must have-a-go when they face Milan in the first leg of their Champions League second round match.

Spurs have already paid a visit to San Siro this season and where unlucky to lose 4-3 against Inter after mounting a second half comeback inspired by Gareth Bale.

"We are going to give it a right go," Redknapp said. "We have not got the players to come here and shut up shop - we are an attacking team and that is how I like it.

"I don't want to concede bags of goals like last time.

Van Der Vaart fit to face Milan

Tottenham midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart has been passed fit to face Milan in the first leg of tonight's Champions League knock out tie.

The Holland international was absent from Spurs' 2-1 win against Sunderland on Saturday after picking up a calf strain.

It eases Harry Redknapp's injury worries ahead of Tottenham's second trip to San Siro this season, the first being a 4-3 defeat to Inter in the group stages.

Tottenham will be without Luka Modric and perhaps even more importantly star winger Gareth Bale.

Ancelotti advises Milan on Spurs

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has given old club Milan advice on dealing with Tottenham. “They're tough, but have a poor defence.”

The former Rossoneri boss hopes his former club can avoid going out of the Champions League to an English side for the third season running.

“Milan have the advantage on home turf, but at White Hart Lane Tottenham can make anyone suffer,” Ancelotti told La Stampa newspaper.

“It depends on how Milan do in terms of tempo. Manchester United and Chelsea risked losing it there.
