Juventus press for Modric

Juventus know that luring Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric away from White Hart Lane won't be easy, but will continue their efforts to do so.

Earlier this week, Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta admitted with regard to Modric that "we are following him."

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp claims the Croatia international playmaker is "unsellable because he is on another planet."

However, Il Corriere dello Sport understands Juventus won't give up hope and plan to meet Tottenham's directors in the middle of May.

“Tottenham have viewed Christian Maggio” so Napoli should offer a new contract, said his agent.

The winger is an Italy international and one of the keys to the Partenopei's climb to second place this season.

“Maggio is appreciated both abroad and in Italy. After all, he does play in a special position,” Massimo Braschi told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“We are waiting for a sign from the club. We said we'd meet again with the directors, then nothing else came of it.

Mythbusters

They may have failed to reach the Quarter Finals but Milan shattered some stereotypes, according to Scott Fleming

Glorious failure was once the preserve of the Scottish national team. Now it seems Milan are getting in on the act.

There are some that will refute that observation straight off the bat, that will argue it's a disgrace for the Serie A leaders to be eliminated from the Champions League by a team sat 5th in the Premier League. Those people are living in the past. In 2008 to be precise, when Milan were reigning champions of Europe and Harry Redknapp took charge of a Tottenham side bottom of the table.

Bale to start on bench

It's thought Gareth Bale will start on the bench for Tottenham this evening when they face Milan in the Champions League at White Hart Lane.

The Wales international winger only returned from a back injury at the weekend, playing 20 minutes against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"We've got to see how he is," said Spurs manager Harry Redknapp. "He trained today, he did a little bit but I am not too sure about the game.

"I don't think he is fit enough to start. He doesn't feel that he is quite ready.

Tassotti: 'Milan emergency against Spurs'

Milan assistant manager Mauro Tassotti feels they can get past Tottenham “even if we are in an emergency situation.”

The Rossoneri lost the first leg 1-0 on home turf and travel to White Hart Lane this evening without Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini, Andrea Pirlo, Pippo Inzaghi or the cup-tied Antonio Cassano, Mark Van Bommel and Urby Emanuelson.

“We need to be balanced,” said Tassotti. “As long as the game is on 0-0, it will be balanced.”

Dawson: 'Milan forced Spurs back'

Tottenham stars Michael Dawson and Peter Crouch acknowledge Milan “forced us to sit back” in a tense second leg.

Spurs are notorious for their attacking approach and had won all their Champions League home games, but were fortunate to escape with a goalless draw at White Hart Lane, beating the Rossoneri 1-0 on aggregate.

“Winning ugly? Definitely. The first half performance was back to walls, but we worked our socks off. Same in the second half. Look at it now, it's rocking,” Dawson told ITV.

Redknapp: 'Milan made Tottenham work'

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp concedes “Milan made it difficult for us to get near them with that fantastic ability in their team.”

The 1-0 first leg victory proved crucial, as the Rossoneri dominated at White Hart Lane, but were unable to break the deadlock.

“It's a great night for the players, the fans and everyone. We're delighted,” he told ITV.

“It was hard work out there tonight, Milan are a good side and you can see why they're a great club with the tradition of winning the Champions League.
