Nothing left of Sarri's Napoli

Maurizio Sarri and Napoli together felt like a fairytale, but as they reunite on Sunday, Tommaso Adami fears they’ll never find that chemistry again.

Once upon a time there was Naples, a city whose people were so in love with football that the God of the sport himself decided to descend from the heavens to join their team. He took them to heights they'd never even fathomed and brought the most beautiful trophies the city had ever seen. But one day, sadly, he had to leave.

Ancelotti eyes Lozano reunion

Carlo Ancelotti could reunite with Mexico international Hirving Lozano at Everton, after the winger slipped to the Napoli bench.

It was Ancelotti who pushed to bring Lozano in to the Stadio San Paolo from PSV Eindhoven last summer for €38m.

However, after 22 competitive appearances, three goals and two assists, Lozano has fallen out of favour with new coach Gennaro Gattuso.

Although in theory he should be ideal for the switch to a 4-3-3 formation, Gattuso does not seem impressed with Lozano’s contribution.

Napoli combine coaches for success

Napoli turned a corner in the Coppa Italia by blending Gennaro Gattuso’s grit with Carlo Ancelotti’s tactical versatility, argues Kaustubh Pandey.

The Coppa Italia clash at the Stadio San Paolo could have been very different, if some crucial moments could have gone the other way. While Napoli did run out victors who will go through to the semi-finals of the competition against either Inter Milan or Fiorentina, they barely deserved to win the game by a tight 1-0 margin. They had to ride their luck big time and beat the team that has been adept at scoring late goals this season.

Ancelotti linked with Allan

Napoli midfielder Allan has been linked with a move to Everton, to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti on Merseyside.

Corriere dello Sport has claimed that the former Napoli coach has targeted the Brazilian, who was one of his most trusted players during his spell in charge of the Partenopei.

The Brazilian was reportedly one of the protagonists of the controversies that took place at the San Paolo during last autumn and was then linked with an early exit from the club.

Napoli sack youth team coach

Napoli have fired their youth team coach Roberto Baronio, just over a month after dismissing senior boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Former midfielder Baronio had been working with their Under-19 squad since the summer of 2018 and his contract was due to run to the end of the season.

His record on the Primavera bench was 15 wins, 10 draws and 25 defeats.

The club decided to axe Baronio after eight defeats in the last nine competitive games.
