Only in Serie A: Hubner the grappa guzzler

Who could forget the colourful career of Dario Hubner, the ageing ‘Bison’ who topped scoring charts in Serie A on a diet of grappa and cigarettes?

Words: Livio Caferoglu

The 2001-02 campaign was a memorable time for Italian strikers. Unlike now, where only three have scored more than 10 times in Serie A, back then there were 15. The one that ran out with the most goals – 24 of them in total – wasn’t a Christian Vieri, Filippo Inzaghi or Alessandro Del Piero, but rather a 35-year-old playing for Piacenza. His name was Dario Hubner.

Report: Everton prepare to offload Kean

Everton are reportedly prepared to enter discussions with Inter regarding Moise Kean, who seems set for a return to Italy.

The youngster moved from Juventus to Everton last summer but has struggled to settle in the Premier League and despite the arrival of coach Carlo Ancelotti, he seems set for a return to Serie A in the upcoming transfer window.

Ancelotti has targeted LOSC Lille centre-back Gabriel Megalhaes and the sale of Kean, who is tied to the Toffees until June 2024, could be of use to help fund a move for the Brazilian defender.

According to Tuttosport, the striker has long been a target for Carlo Ancelotti, even back when he was the coach of Bayern Munich and Napoli.

Now that the tactician is in the Premier League with Everton, he feels Belotti would be a success, as the 26-year-old is one of the hardest-working forwards in the game.

He scored 15 goals in 31 competitive games so far this season, including six in six Europa League qualifiers.

Everton eye Lozano and Allan

Carlo Ancelotti and Everton are targeting Napoli outcasts Allan and Hirving Lozano for this summer, but face competition from Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia.

The coach was fired at the Stadio San Paolo in December and within days had secured a new job with the Toffees in the Premier League.

He has since then been repeatedly linked with swoops for Partenopei players, including Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the more realistic targets for the summer are two men who look to be on their way out anyway.
