La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Rafael Leao swapped shirts with Viktor Gyokeres after Portugal-Sweden on Thursday, suggesting the Milan star is already on good terms with one of the Rossoneri transfer targets for next summer.

Leao scored a goal in Portugal’s 5-2 win over Sweden on Thursday and according to Gazzetta, Leao dropped a transfer hint for Milan after the final whistle. As reported on page 16 of Monday’s printed edition of the newspaper, Leao approached the Sweden striker to swap shirts with him at the end of the game.

Gyokeres praised the Rossoneri star during a post-match interview: “He is a fantastic player and I admire his work. He told me I had played well and I replied that he hadn’t been bad at all.”

Leao’s shirt swap on Thursday was the latest proof he respects Gyokeres. The two strikers already follow each other on Instagram, and Milan director Zlatan Ibrahimovic, one of Leao’s mentors at the Stadio Meazza, could play a key role in persuading his compatriot to join the Rossoneri in the summer.

Gazzetta reports Gyokeres has a €100m release clause in his contract with Sporting CP, but Milan hope the Portuguese side can start negotiating from €50m.

Gyokeres, 25, has been in terrific form for his club this season, scoring 36 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.
