Inter: Six miss Spurs clash

Inter will be without Diego Godin, Alessandro Bastoni, Kwadwo Asamoah, Matias Vecino, Valentino Lazaro and Lautaro Martinez against Tottenham Hotspur.

Godin, Lazaro and Bastoni are injured, while Asamoah, Vecino and Martinez have only just begun preseason training after extended summer breaks.

Radja Nainggolan is not included as he completes a move back to Cagliari and there is no change over Mauro Icardi, who remains in the wilderness.

Inter turn to PSG striker Cavani

With Beppe Marotta frustrated by Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko problems, Inter are reportedly turning to PSG striker Edinson Cavani.

According to Sportitalia, the Nerazzurri have realised the cost of Antonio Conte’s first choice strikers are simply too high after a series of proposals were rejected.

Director Marotta hinted as much when speaking to Sky Sport Italia today about Manchester United’s Lukaku demands.

Godin & Vecino link up with Inter

Diego Godin and Matias Vecino have joined up with the Inter squad at their preseason training camp in China.

Godin and Vecino were given extended breaks following their participation at Copa America with Uruguay.

However, they are now in Nanjing, where Inter will face Juventus in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday.

Lautaro Martinez, on the other hand, appears to have been given more time off due to Argentina progressing further in the competition.

Vecino out of the Copa America

Inter midfielder Matias Vecino has been ruled out of Uruguay’s Copa America squad with a thigh injury.

Uruguay beat Ecuador 4-0 in their opening game of the tournament on Sunday night, and Vecino was forced off with around 10 minutes remaining.

The Uruguayan Football Federation stated on their official website that the midfielder was diagnosed with a muscular lesion to his right thigh and will miss out on the rest of the competition.

Inter 'ready to sell Vecino'

Inter have reportedly decided to sell midfielder Matias Vecino this summer.

Vecino joined Inter from Fiorentina two years ago and scored the goal that ended their six-year absence from the Champions League, against Lazio on the final day of last season.

However, Calciomercato.com claims the Nerazzurri are not satisfied with his overall contribution after a campaign marked by ‘mediocrity’.

The website adds the Beneamata are demanding between €25m and €30m for the Uruguayan.

Vecino to miss Udinese-Inter

Matias Vecino has been ruled out of Inter’s Serie A clash with Udinese on Saturday.

Inter tweeted from their official account that Vecino’s right thigh pulled up during their final training session before the match.

Brozovic back for Inter

Inter should have Marcelo Brozovic back against Juventus in the Derby d’Italia on Saturday after the midfielder resumed training.

A thigh injury ruled Brozovic out of Inter’s last two games against Frosinone and Roma, but Sky Sport Italia reports he worked ‘normally’ on Wednesday.

The broadcaster adds Matias Vecino joined the Croat on the training ground after doing individual work the day before.

Vecino: Inter want next Scudetto

Matias Vecino has urged Inter to take their ‘beautiful opportunity’ against Juventus and insisted that ‘we’ll be back fighting for the Scudetto.’

Inter will all-but-qualify for next season’s Champions League with victory over Juve in the Derby d’Italia this weekend, although they are destined to end at least 20 points behind the Bianconeri.

“We have the chance to end talk of the Champions League, also because others have difficult games this week,” Vecino told Sky Sport Italia.

Inzaghi outsmarted toothless Inter

Lazio were happy to let Inter pour forward with no real incision or genuine threat, explains Elio Salerno, as Simone Inzaghi's gameplan paid off.

Simone Inzaghi tactically out-foxed Inter boss Luciano Spalletti and took Lazio to a thoroughly-deserved victory at San Siro.

Inter started the match in positive fashion, the intensity was high and Lazio were being forced into quick turnovers of possession, allowing Luciano Spalletti’s team to apply early pressure on Thomas Strakosha’s goal. But Inzaghi had come prepared and once the early storm had been weathered, his well thought out plan came to the fore.

Marvellous Madness of the Madonnina

If the Milan Derby has taught us anything over the years, it’s to expect the unexpected, writes Giancarlo Rinaldi, but this had more chaos than quality.

There is something gloriously infuriating about the would-be revivals of these Milanese giants. Every time you think one of them is on the road to recovery, they suffer a setback that undermines all the good work they have done. This was meant to be the derby that emphasised the Rossoneri’s resurgence - and the continuing crisis of their city cousins. We should probably have known how it was going to end.
