Kalinic in Fiorentina return?

On-loan Roma striker Nikola Kalinic could return to Fiorentina in January, reports the Corriere dello Sport.

The Croat joined the Giallorossi on loan from Atletico Madrid with an option to buy over the summer, but he has struggled this season.

Kalinic has yet to find the back of the net for Roma, playing just three times after breaking his fibula earlier in the season against former club Milan.

The Roman daily speculates coach Paulo Fonseca no longer sees the 31-year-old in his plans and that the player could sign for Fiorentina or Bologna in January.

Roma: Dzeko to miss Inter?

Roma striker Edin Dzeko is a major doubt for Friday’s Serie A clash with Inter due to a bout of flu.

The Bosnian hasn’t trained with the squad for the last two days because of a high fever, and Goal.com reports that if his temperature doesn’t subside, he may well miss the showdown at San Siro.

As is their desperation to have him available, the Giallorossi are monitoring his condition on an hourly basis and will not rule him out until the very last moment.

Mkhitaryan back for Roma

Roma have announced their squad for the Europa League match against Istanbul Basaksehir tomorrow, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Nikola Kalinic returning.

The Armenian has been out of action for nearly two months, and is included in the squad.

Another return is on-loan striker Nikola Kalinic, who has been out of play since mid-October.

Roma are still without long-term casualties Bryan Cristante and Davide Zappacosta.

Roma trio resume training

Roma trio Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Leonardo Spinazzola and Nikola Kalinic have resumed training after spells on the sidelines.

Mkhitaryan has been out of action since late September with a torn muscle, whilst Kalinic has been sidelined since fracturing his leg against Sampdoria mid-October.

Spinazzola was a late addition to the treatement table, pulling out of Italy duty with a muscular problem.

However, Mkhitaryan and Spinazzola should be called up to face Istanbul Basaksehir in the Europa League on Thursday.

Roma to send Kalinic back?

Roma could cut Nikola Kalinic’s loan spell short and return him to Atletico Madrid in January, claims Spanish paper Marca.

The forward turns 32 in January and probably won’t play again in 2019 due to a fracture at the top of the fibula, suffered last month.

He made only five appearances in a Giallorossi jersey, three in Serie A and two in the Europa League, for a grand total of 182 minutes of football.

According to Marca, Roma are getting ready to cut the season-long loan short and return Kalinic to Atletico Madrid.

Roma pair out for months

As expected, Roma pair Bryan Cristante and Nikola Kalinic will be out for at least a month with injury setbacks.

Roma’s official website confirmed Cristante tore a tendon in his right adductor muscle against Sampdoria yesterday.

Kalinic, meanwhile, suffered “a fracture at the top of the fibula bone”, although the Giallorossi assure the striker does not need surgery.

Cristante & Kalinic set for long layoffs?

Roma’s injury count looks to have reached seven as Bryan Cristante and Nikola Kalinic are set for long spells on the treatment table.

Cristante pulled up just eight minutes into Roma’s 0-0 draw at Sampdoria on Sunday, while Kalinic was brought off at the end of the first half.

Teleradiostereo and Il Tempo both report the former Milan striker is facing two months out after he injured the MCL in his left knee.

As for the midfielder, Teleradiostereo expects him to be sidelined for three months and will need surgery to correct a groin problem.

Petrachi: 'Absurd disallowed goal!'

Roma director of sport Gianluca Petrachi was furious with the referee after a last-gasp goal against Cagliari was disallowed. “It’s absurd! In England, they’ll laugh at us.”

The game ended 1-1, but in stoppages Nikola Kalinic bundled the ball over the line after he had pushed Fabio Pisacane into goalkeeper Robin Olsen.

The referee disallowed the goal on the spot, but Roma didn’t realise this until after Pisacane had been stretchered off with a neck-brace.
